Antiflu powder instructions for use

Antiflu powder

Antiflu powder (Pulvis Antiflu)

basic physical and chemical properties: fractionated white powder;

Compound. 1 package includes 650 mg acetaminophen, 10 mg phenylephrine hydrochloride and 4 mg chlorpheniramine maleate;

Table of contents:

other ingredients: ascorbic acid, citric acid, povidone, sodium citrate, natural lemon flavor, starch, stearic acid, FD&C Yellow No. 10, FD&C Yellow No. 6, sucrose, titanium dioxide, calcium triphosphate.

Release form of the medicinal product. Powder.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Analgesics and antipyretics. ATC code N02BE51.

Pharmacodynamics. Acetaminophen has analgesic, antipyretic, and mild anti-inflammatory effects.

Phenylephrine hydrochloride is an α-adrenergic agonist, which, due to its vasoconstrictor effect, reduces swelling and hyperemia of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract and paranasal sinuses.

Chlorpheniramine maleate is a blocker of H1 - histaminergic receptors; it has an antiallergic effect, eliminates rhinorrhea, lacrimation and itching in the eyes and nose.

Pharmacokinetics. Acetaminophen is metabolized in the liver to form acetaminophen glucuronide and sulfate. The half-life of acetaminophen is 2 - 2.5 hours. It is prolonged in persons with liver disease. Acetaminophen is excreted in the urine (85% of a single dose of acetaminophen is eliminated within 24 hours). Elimination is significantly impaired in cases of impaired renal excretory function, which can lead to accumulation of acetaminophen and its metabolic products in the body.

The half-life of chlorpheniramine maleate is 8 hours. Metabolic products and the unmetabolized part of the drug are excreted in the urine.

Phenylephrine is absorbed and metabolized in the gastrointestinal tract. Phenylephrine is metabolized by monoamine oxidase in the liver and intestines. Metabolites, their role and rate of elimination have not been determined. The pharmacological effect of phenylephrine ends with the absorption of the drug into tissues.
The pharmacokinetics of the drug is determined by the pharmacokinetics of its components.

The components of the drug do not affect each other's pharmacokinetics.

Indications for use. For influenza, acute respiratory viral infections and colds to reduce temperature, eliminate headache and muscle-joint pain, swelling of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract.

Method of use and dose. Before use, dissolve the contents of 1 packet in a glass of hot water. Take 1 packet for adults and children over 12 years old. If necessary, repeat the dose every 4 hours, but no more than 4 packets per day. The total duration of treatment should not exceed 7 days. Subsequent use is only possible under medical supervision.

Side effect. From the central nervous system, drowsiness and sleep disturbances are possible; from the digestive tract - epigastric pain, nausea, vomiting. Allergic reactions may occur (skin rash, itching, swelling); with long-term use - anemia, impaired liver and kidney function.

Contraindications. Increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug, severe dysfunction of the liver and kidneys. Children from up to 12 years old.

Overdose. May manifest as agitation, dizziness, sleep disturbances, and in severe cases, liver and kidney dysfunction.

Recommended measures: gastric lavage, taking activated carbon or enterosorbent, immediate hospitalization in the toxicology department.

Features of use. Due to the possibility of drowsiness, you should refrain from driving vehicles or operating machinery for 4 hours after taking the drug. In case of arterial hypertension, heart rhythm disturbances, thyrotoxicosis, urinary disorders, pregnancy and breastfeeding, the drug should be taken in consultation with a doctor.

Interaction with other drugs. Acetaminophen, which is part of Antiflu, slows down the removal of antibiotics from the body. The hepato- and nephrotoxicity of acetaminophen increases when combined with barbiturates and alcohol. Tetracyclines increase the risk of anemia and methemoglobinemia when used concomitantly with acetaminophen.

The simultaneous use of Antiflu with sleeping pills, sedatives, antipsychotics, tranquilizers, and alcohol significantly enhances the inhibitory effect of chlorpheniramine maleate on the central nervous system.

Concomitant use of phenylephrine hydrochloride with other adrenergic agonists or monoamine oxidase inhibitors may lead to the development of a hypertensive crisis.

Storage conditions and periods. Store in a dry place, out of reach of children, at a temperature of 15-30°C.

ANTIFLUE KIDS, POWDER (BAGS)

Instructions for medical use

International nonproprietary name

Raspberry flavored powder

1 sachet contains

active ingredients - acetaminophen 160 mg, ascorbic acid 50 mg, chlorpheniramine maleate 1 mg;

excipients - sugar (powdered sugar), sugar (sucrose), raspberry flavor, citric acid, silicon dioxide, silicon dioxide (syloid), tribasic sodium citrate (trisodium citrate dihydrate), titanium dioxide (E 171), tricalcium phosphate (calcium phosphate tribasic), corn starch, red dye FD&C No. 40 (E 129).

Analgesics. Other analgesics and antipyretics. Anilides. Paracetamol in combination with other drugs (excluding psycholeptics).

ATX code N02BE51

Acetaminophen (paracetamol) is absorbed in the upper intestine by passive diffusion; the half-life (T½) of acetaminophen is 2-2.5 hours. It is prolonged after taking large doses and in persons with liver disease. Acetaminophen is excreted in the urine (85% of a single dose of acetaminophen is eliminated within 24 hours).

Chlorpheniramine maleate is absorbed in the small intestine and undergoes biotransformation in the liver. The half-life of elimination is 8 hours. Metabolic products and the unmetabolized part of the drug are excreted in the urine.

Ascorbic acid is actively absorbed in the small intestine. The maximum concentration in plasma after oral administration is reached after 4 hours. From plasma it easily penetrates into leukocytes, platelets and almost all tissues. Elimination of ascorbic acid occurs both through its excretion unchanged in the urine and through biotransformation into deoxyascorbic and diketogulonic acids (the latter is converted into oxalic acid), excreted in the urine.

Acetaminophen (paracetamol) has an analgesic, antipyretic and mild anti-inflammatory effect due to its effect on the thermoregulation center and inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system.

Chlorpheniramine maleate is an H1-histamine receptor blocker that interferes with the action of one of the main mediators of inflammation - histamine.

By reducing the permeability of capillary walls, it reduces the severity of local exudative manifestations, swelling of the mucous membranes of the nose, nasopharynx, upper respiratory tract, and lacrimation.

Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) has antioxidant properties, activates defense mechanisms, increases the body's resistance to infection. Activates redox processes, stimulates regeneration processes, synthesis of glucocorticoids and catecholamines; compacts the capillary wall (by increasing the formation of intercellular substance and reducing the activity of hyaluronidase).

Antiflu ® Kids reduces headaches, muscle-joint pain, sore throat, eliminates rhinorrhea, itching in the eyes and nose.

Children from 2 to 12 years old

To eliminate the symptoms of ARVI, flu and colds:

- increased body temperature, chills

- nasal congestion, sneezing

- headache and muscle-joint pain

- sore throat and other symptoms of inflammation of the upper respiratory tract and paranasal sinuses.

Directions for use and doses

Take orally, regardless of meals. Before use, dissolve the contents of one packet in 150 ml of warm water. A single dose for children 2-6 years old is the contents of 1 sachet, for children 6-12 years old - the contents of 2 sachets. If necessary, repeat the dose every 4-6 hours, but not more than 4 doses. The course of treatment is 5 days. Further use is possible only under medical supervision.

In most cases, the drug is well tolerated.

The following side effects may occur:

Disorders of the hematopoietic and lymphatic system:

Anemia, sulfhemoglobinemia and methemoglobinemia (cyanosis, shortness of breath, heart pain), hemolytic anemia (if the patient suffers from glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency), thrombocytopenia, leukopenia

Nausea, pain in the epigastric region.

Increased activity of liver enzymes (usually without jaundice), liver necrosis (dose-dependent effect).

From the immune system:

Hypersensitivity reactions, including angioedema, anaphylactic shock.

Nervous system disorders:

Drowsiness headache.

Renal and urinary tract disorders:

Renal colic and interstitial nephritis, urinary retention, aseptic pyuria, with long-term use in high doses - damage to the glomerular apparatus of the kidneys, formation of stones in the kidneys.

Diseases of the skin and subcutaneous tissue:

Itching, rash on the skin and mucous membranes (erythema, urticaria), erythema multiforme (including Stevens-Johnson syndrome) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome).

  • increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug
  • severe liver and/or kidney dysfunction
  • deficiency of the enzyme glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase
  • Gilbert's syndrome
  • hematopoietic disorders
  • fructose intolerance, glucose/galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency
  • children under 2 years old

The drug should not be used simultaneously with other paracetamol-containing drugs.

Acetaminophen slows down the removal of antibiotics from the body. The hepato- and nephrotoxicity of acetaminophen increases when combined with barbiturates. Tetracyclines increase the risk of anemia and methemoglobinemia with acetaminophen use.

The simultaneous use of hypnotics and sedatives, neuroleptics and tranquilizers significantly enhances the inhibitory effect of chlorpheniramine maleate on the central nervous system.

It is not recommended to use simultaneously with sedatives and hypnotics.

The medicine should be taken in the following cases only after a doctor has assessed the risk-benefit ratio:

  • arterial hypertension
  • diabetes
  • epilepsy
  • heart rhythm disturbances
  • thyrotoxicosis
  • urinary disorders
  • oxalaturia
  • viral hepatitis.

Pregnancy and lactation

Paracetamol and ascorbic acid may distort laboratory tests (quantitative determination of glucose and uric acid in plasma).

Each sachet contains 11.59 g of sucrose, which must be taken into account when consumed daily if you are on a low-sugar diet or have diabetes.

Features of the effect of the drug on the ability to drive vehicles or potentially dangerous mechanisms

Given the drug’s ability to cause drowsiness, children should be kept from activities that require increased concentration for 4 hours after administration.

Symptoms of paracetamol overdose: in the first 24 hours, pallor, nausea, vomiting, anorexia and abdominal pain. In case of overdose, agitation, dizziness, and sleep disturbances may occur.

There have been reports of isolated cases of acute renal failure following an overdose of paracetamol.

In severe cases, liver damage (hepatocellular necrosis) and liver dysfunction may occur and may progress to encephalopathy, hepatic coma and death. Clinical signs of liver damage may not appear for 12 to 48 hours after an overdose. Impaired glucose metabolism and metabolic acidosis may occur. Liver failure may develop after use of more than 150 mg/kg.

Treatment: gastric lavage during the first 6 hours after an overdose of paracetamol. Cytotoxic effects can be reduced by oral methionine or intravenous N-acetylcysteine within eight hours of overdose.

Release form and packaging

The powder is hermetically packaged in a bag made of laminated material (paper/polyethylene/foil/polyethylene). 5 sachets together with instructions for medical use in the state and Russian languages are placed in a cardboard box.
