The technique and duration of inhalation and the abdominal contraction phase during exhalation do not change throughout the entire course of breathing. The exhalation gradually lengthens as breathing is mastered.

After practicing for 5-10 minutes, use your watch to determine your IPDA. Select a duration of the respiratory act (PDA - time in seconds from the beginning of one breath to the beginning of the next) when, feeling the load, you are able to breathe evenly and without shortness of breath for more than 5 minutes. On the first day of classes after determining your IPDA, it is advisable to check its truth by breathing with a set volume of water for 5-7 minutes. For the first lesson, it is allowed to exceed the total breathing time by 5-10 minutes. Subsequently, it is necessary to strictly adhere to the recommendations of Table 1. If the IPDA is more than 15 seconds, then you need to switch to portioned exhalation, as indicated below.

For diseases of the cardiovascular system, respiratory system, brain, bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, hypertension, hypotension, headaches, tumors, asthenic conditions, general weakness, the volume of water poured should be no more than 10 ml.

If persistent unpleasant sensations appear in the head or heart during breathing, if blood pressure increases after breathing, or if there is difficulty in exhaling, the volume of water should be reduced by 1 ml. Then, within 0.5-1 sec. the abdomen moves forward to relax the diaphragm and a second portion of air is immediately exhaled with active contraction of the abdomen at the end of exhalation. As the PDA increases, the second portion of air increases, and with PDA 22 sec. it is also divided in half, and the exhalation becomes 3 portions, etc. For example, after a month the PDA reached 38 seconds: 2 seconds. - inhale, four portions of exhalation for 6 seconds = 24 seconds, plus 4 seconds. to push out the abdomen to relax the diaphragm, fifth portion - 8 seconds.

It is necessary to avoid mistakes associated with increased consumption of structural lung tissue - surfactant. Surfactant deficiency is manifested by shortness of breath and decreased PDA. Signs of surfactant deficiency also include weakness, surges in blood pressure, and irritability. Overconsumption of surfactant occurs when there is excess water in the simulator and the recommended breathing time is exceeded. Following the breathing regimen eliminates relapse. To prevent surfactant deficiency, PDA must be monitored. Its sharp drop is a possible sign of surfactant deficiency. Not to be confused with the state of obstruction that is possible in patients with bronchial asthma or chronic bronchitis. With a sharp decrease in PDA, breathing stops and the time is recorded.
