Discussion

For the throat Lizobakt or Faringosept, gargle with Rotokan, drink more cranberry juices, rinse your nose with sprays (the most thermonuclear and penetrating is Afrin Clean Sea - I tested it on myself, but the volume is only 75 ml), if your nose is not breathing, you can drip with baby drops (which go up to of the year). It is better to gargle than to take medication. A temperature up to 37.5 is considered normal; nothing can bring it down. It's normal for your stomach to feel tight. It is normal if there is a small drop of blood (implantation bleeding), it is not normal when: 1) there is a lot of bright blood - urgently go to the ambulance, 2) there is a lot of smear and the stomach hurts a lot, if the stomach does not hurt much and there is no discharge - .

. I got off and got sinusitis, I couldn’t stand it. I did the puncture. ENT prescribed Nazonex for 14 days, morning and evening. It costs 900 tugriks. And somehow she got down gradually. It's better not to start. Instead of xylo, I spray Afrin, it turned out to be easier to get off. In general, from Laura - if there is swelling, vasoconstrictors are a must, you can use Vibrocil. And under no circumstances should you wash the Aqualor with a shower, as you can get otitis media. Rinsing the nose for swelling.

But how can you wash it if it’s stuffed up and doesn’t breathe? I have Afrin, salt water, but I don’t see much use from it. I bought Tizin for children and it helped for a while. Now he too has lost ground. Are you an adult?

Thank you) Yes, my daughter and I were sick all winter. What helps? For the throat, lysobact and tantum verde. In the nose Aqualor (Afrin is cheaper) children's spray Tizin for congestion. My daughter had my surgery at 5 days B and I was sick, nothing, the smart girl is growing.

Before leaving the house, I smear my nose and drop Breathe oil on my clothes. I give Arbidol a course of 10 days once a day and vitamin C. After all the walks and gardening, I immediately rinse my nose with Afrin, Aqualor and so far everything is fine pah pah pah. We also smear ourselves at home and wash our noses. We also drink hot lemon and rose hips.

Ingavirin, sore throat teas with raspberries and milk with artesian sparkling water, and lozenges. Afrin for snot. Ingavirin should not be taken during pregnancy. but what to do. Otherwise I’ll go to bed 😑

. I was walking on my own, it was very windy outside, apparently I was frozen ((I’m afraid to drink all kinds of chemicals, I gargle with soda-salt-iodine, it seems like the “grater” sensation has disappeared, I rinse my nose with salt water, I spray Afrin for children, I took three doses (yesterday in the evening and today) Oscillococcinum, I read that it is harmless, but also useless, but at least something))) I’m waiting for B.

I first used lazolvan rino, but it only helped for 2 hours, now I switched to Afrin moisturizing, I sleep peacefully at night during the day, I drip as needed, yesterday the doctor told me that I need to drip so that my nose can always breathe and I don’t have to endure congestion.

About treatment: I’m just sick. Afrin spores spray into your nose, it cleans well, even if you don’t have a runny nose, you still need to clean it more often. I gargle with chamomile and furatsilin, and spray tantum Verde. This temperature is usually not reduced.

So I’m already thinking what’s worse, dripping and breathing or not dripping and suffocating for the two of us, probably even (((sometimes when I can’t bear it at all, I spray Afrin, this is the thing, it helps for a couple of days

I rinsed my nose when that stopped helping and dripped lazolvan rino, afrin, tizin xylo. The baby drops didn't help at all. Not breathing is much worse than vasoconstrictor drugs, IMHO

Just salt in the water is Afrin, Aqualor and other stuff for rinsing the nose. Useless. I wash it every day. I don't see the point.

I have the same problem now(((I’m dripping Afrin, children’s Otrivin, lazolvan Rino, ENT and g. They say that it’s impossible, but it’s completely impossible to breathe without it. I try to endure until the last moment, so that no more than 3 times, it doesn’t always work. Aqualors and aquamaris and pinosol, I don’t know who they help, for me it’s complete nonsense, no relief. Of course, I’m very worried about my baby and about the mucous membrane, which bleeds constantly, but I decided the less you push, the better, in any case, in this situation there is no other There is no way out. There are many forums.

IT'S ALREADY 3 months. no strength left at all. drops don't help. nothing is breathing at all. I’m already roaring out loud from hopelessness. Afrin helps me quite a bit. My nose can't breathe, my ears are blocked, my blood pressure rises. End of ends.

Nasal spray MSD Afrin moisturizing 0.05% - reviews

I don’t like nasal drops and sprays, but with this product I changed my mind! Love at first shot ♡ + PHOTO

Hi all! Cold season is starting, so of course I caught a cold! The runny nose didn’t let me sleep, I didn’t have the strength to endure it, so I had to buy at least some drops or a spray for the runny nose (by the way, I usually do without them). My choice fell on MSD Nasal Spray Afrin moisturizing 0.05.

Relieves congestion without drying out the nasal mucosa

Good afternoon, dear readers! Spring has arrived and it's almost warm outside. But this is no hindrance to viruses. The whole family got sick, I suffered the most. Sore throat, cough, nasal congestion, fever. Cametone helped with the sore throat, at first I used what I had at home, Miramistin, which didn’t…

The manufacturer promises us up to 12 hours of happiness in the form of easy breathing through the nose. How long will the nose actually breathe?

Good afternoon I have been having problems with nasal breathing for several years now. I have a deviated septum, I can’t breathe in one nostril, and only surgery can help me. I'm not ready to do it yet, I'm afraid. Therefore, you have to use drops and sprays.

How to cure a runny nose with Afrin? Perhaps they have the longest effect.

Every person has at least once asked the question: how to cure a runny nose? And very often they answer us: if you treat a runny nose, it will go away in 7 days, and if you don’t treat it, then in a week. Since snot are my old “friends,” I can say. that this is not entirely true.

It really doesn't go down your throat! (Plus advice on how to get rid of drip addiction)

I first bought Afrin drops at the airport before a long flight at a very inflated price. I was attracted by the promise on the packaging to moisturize (on the plane my mucous membranes get very dry and this makes my nose stuffy) and not to run down my throat.

I got rid of drip addiction with Afrin. It does not dry out the mucous membranes and is generally an excellent remedy if you don’t get carried away.

My mother has been on naphthyzine for 10 years now. From the outside it looks quite “drug addict” when a person panics because there is no naphthyzine nearby. Therefore, I always knew for sure that the drops were addictive, and when I had a cold, I tried not to put it in my nose. But this year is a special occasion.

It really helps to get rid of a runny nose!

1. Glucometer 1 2. Glucometer 2 3. Test strips Ingredients of the medicine: A runny nose is sometimes a very serious symptom of an illness, and sometimes it’s just a temporary phenomenon. In short, in any case, this is a disease that requires treatment.

It really works, but not everything is so simple!

No matter how hard you try to take care, you inevitably encounter a runny nose at least once a year, especially in winter. I don’t have any special treatment, the only thing is that I can’t stand my nasal congestion, even halfway, because my head starts to hurt, and once it’s completely stuffed up, I’m just downright panicky...

Stop wrapping your snot around your fist! Breathe deeply!

Good afternoon, dear ladies! I present to your attention “Afrin” - my faithful assistant for nasal congestion. I became acquainted with it relatively recently, but now I would not exchange it for any other product.

Afrin or how to wean yourself from drop addiction.

Rhinitis occurs periodically. It’s easy to get into it—it takes three days to drip drops, the manufacturer doesn’t matter. In general, any remedy for a runny nose is like an addiction to drugs. The nose gets used to it and it feels better this way. Why do doctors limit the use of cold remedies to three to four days?

At a time when spaceships roam the expanses of the Universe, treatment for a runny nose must be comfortable!

I really don’t like being sick, and the worst thing about ARVI is, of course, a runny nose and nasal congestion. Even the state of body aches, when it seems as if you were run over by a truck, can be endured. But a runny nose.

A very dangerous drug! Be careful when using it!

I simply cannot help but write a review about this drug, since perhaps it will help someone prevent unwanted consequences. A few months ago, my husband and I caught a cold. We had some kind of respiratory viral infection that only gave us a runny nose. But the runny nose was very strong.

my nose is breathing!

Since childhood, I have suffered from frequent sinusitis and allergies. A constantly stuffy nose, constant “sniffing”, you don’t fully feel the smells - it’s terrible, but I had to get used to it. Many products and drops cause extreme dryness in the nose, which makes the nasal congestion even worse after using them.

Copes and makes breathing easier

I bought these drops for my child. He is allergic, and we usually save ourselves with vibrocil (I try not to overuse). But there was a moment when we caught a cold and had to look for something else. Although “Afrin” is a little expensive, it does the job 100%: It’s easy to use thanks to the nozzle, which irrigates evenly.

It became easier to breathe, but

With the onset of cold weather, colds also began. A recent runny nose forced me to go to the pharmacy. I ran out of old nasal drops and went to get new ones. However, the pharmacist advised me not to take the drops that I usually bought, but to use Afrin moisturizing nasal spray.

I say YES to this spray! try it too!)

Hello! I suffer from chronic rhinitis, and this is constant nasal congestion, dryness in the sinuses, with periodic exacerbations of a runny nose and, in general, not a very pleasant sensation.

He's good, but

Oh, that stuffy nose. can easily ruin everything. It comes unexpectedly and leaves the same way. There was a period when the nose refused to work at all. I had to use Afrin (moisturizing) It helps almost immediately (literally after 30 seconds and voila), it helps for no more than 6-10 hours.

review of Afrin with acceleration from love to hate) why? Read and you will understand everything.

Afrin, labeled moisturizing, was prescribed to me by an ENT doctor when she diagnosed me with acute rhinitis. I had a stuffy nose and colorless discharge. the price, of course, varies, as with all medicines, I was able to compare prices in two pharmacies and I bought this drug for 218 rubles exactly!

Afrin Moisturizing, or his majesty nasal spray

Greetings, my dears! It so happens that pharmacists also get sick - and I was not spared the autumn cold, which visited me in the form of a runny nose, nasal congestion and discomfort in the nasopharynx. While I was at work, I had the opportunity to sort through all the droplets, sprays and rinses for my favorite nasal area.

Effective and gentle!

I tried this spray at the beginning of winter. And the result is simply amazing. In general, I don’t really like vasoconstrictors. Almost all of them dry out the nasal mucosa. I try to do without them.

Reviews from doctors about Afrin

I really like Afrin because it does not dry out the nasal mucosa and is applied evenly (spray). It relieves nasal congestion perfectly, I use it myself and give it to my child. Suitable for colds, runny nose, sinusitis, polynotic diseases of the nasal mucosa and during periods of allergic exacerbations. The price is slightly lower compared to analogues.

For nasal congestion, a nasal spray is effective. The spray form allows the medicine to be distributed over a larger area, which provides a better effect. It works quickly. Well moisturizes the mucous membrane without causing dryness when used. A good manufacturer you can trust. Can be recommended for ARVI.

Patient reviews about Afrin

I bought myself Afrin at the pharmacy. Cost 300 rub. It's a little expensive, I wish it was cheaper. It’s convenient that you don’t have to throw your head up when spraying. It acts immediately, clears up the nose for about 7 hours. Although the instructions say the action lasts longer. It helped me, my runny nose went away after using it a week.

I have suffered from allergic rhinitis for over 40 years. I tried almost all known drugs that also help, but there is one thing. I have to take vasodilators for hypertension. It is clear that they increase nasal congestion. When you take large doses, most drugs do not relieve congestion completely, at best for a couple of hours. And it is very difficult to sleep. Afrin really helps for 10 hours. I began to sleep peacefully with him. But I haven’t used it for more than a week in a row, I’m afraid of getting used to it. In addition, I note that I only used it at night, again, I don’t want to get used to it.

And now the season has come when almost everyone gets sick, and, naturally, you don’t want to miss school or work at all. Therefore, I usually suffer all my illnesses on my feet and, naturally, I am constantly looking for a remedy that can very quickly relieve me of nasal congestion. And finally I found this drug, it turned out to be Afrin. It simply perfectly clears all the nasal passages and very quickly relieves nasal congestion. And by the way, right after spraying it, it becomes much easier and easier to breathe. And within just a few days the result of recovery is noticeable. So I highly recommend this remedy, and be sure to be healthy. Before use, be sure to consult your physician.

An excellent German drug for a runny nose and the consequences of a cold, for those who, like me, often suffer from nasal congestion in the autumn-winter period. There are many advantages: it begins to act with German punctuality almost instantly (as per the instructions, 1 minute), relieves swelling of the nose, eliminates a runny nose, quite reasonable price, no need to throw your head back (so as not to “leak out”), no allergic reaction (and this is with all my allergens!). Of the minuses, I can cite only one: with the same German punctuality, exactly 12 hours later (everything is as stated in the instructions for this drug) it stops its magical effect.

In autumn and spring I often catch colds. The weather is cooperating. The nose is very stuffy, it is difficult to breathe, especially difficult at night. In these cases, I save myself with Afrin or its analogues. Two sprays are enough and after a couple of minutes the nose breathes on its own. The effect lasts for the night. In the morning you have to repeat the procedure. But you can't abuse it. The course is no more than seven days. This is a vasoconstrictor and is addictive. Among the shortcomings, I would like to note the fact that after use the nose feels dry and tingling. There is Afrin with a moisturizing effect, I haven’t noticed such problems from it.

Instructions for use of Afrin

pharmachologic effect

Vasoconstrictor drug for topical use, alpha-adrenergic stimulant. Oxymetazoline causes vasoconstriction of the mucous membranes of the nose, paranasal sinuses and eustachian tube, which leads to a decrease in their swelling and easier nasal breathing in allergic and/or infectious-inflammatory rhinitis.

Due to the presence of excipients in the nasal spray (microcrystalline cellulose and sodium carmellose, povidone-K29-32), the drug does not flow out of the nose or down the throat, because Once introduced into the nasal passages, the spray becomes more viscous and adheres to the nasal mucosa more effectively than a standard aqueous solution.

According to clinical studies, the drug begins to act within 1 minute, the effect lasts up to 12 hours.

Pharmacokinetics

When used as a nasal spray, oxymetazoline is practically undetectable in blood plasma.

Release form, composition and packaging

Nasal spray 0.05% in the form of a gel-like suspension of white or almost white color, with a characteristic citrus odor.

Excipients : disodium edetate dihydrate mg, sodium hydrophosphate mg, sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate - 5.525 mg, povidone K mg, benzalkonium chloride solution 17% - 1.471 mg, macrogol mg, benzyl alcohol - 2.5 mg, microcrystalline cellulose and carmellose sodium (Avicel RC-591) - 30 mg, lemon flavor - 1.5 mg, purified water - qs up to 1 ml.

Afrin

The drug Afrin is a vasoconstrictor (see reviews) that is used in adult patients and children over 6 years of age for the symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis and rhinitis of infectious-inflammatory etiology (runny nose), as well as sinusitis, eustachitis and hay fever.

Composition and release form

Afrin's active ingredients include oxymetazoline (oxymetazoline hydrochloride), an alpha-adrenergic agonist that, when applied topically, causes vasoconstriction of the nasal mucosa, eustachian tube and paranasal sinuses. As a result of the action of oxymetazoline, the swelling of the mucous membranes decreases, as a result of which the patency of the nasal canals is normalized, and nasal breathing, difficult due to rhinitis, is restored. The release form of the drug is nasal spray (nasal spray).

Afrin INN

Oxymetazoline (INN - international nonproprietary name).

Application and contraindications

A contraindication to the use of Afrin is the patient's atrophic rhinitis or hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. This vasoconstrictor should not be used simultaneously with monoamine oxidase inhibitors and for 2 weeks after stopping their use. Afrin spray during pregnancy and breastfeeding should be prescribed in exceptional cases and used with caution. Side effects may include dry nasal mucosa, sneezing, increased blood pressure, headache, etc. - read the instructions before starting treatment.

Reviews about Afrin

I bought this Afrin for 182 rubles (red Afrin, which is original, i.e. the label and box are red), I decided to try it for a runny nose. The box seemed large, in fact the bottle contained the usual volume of 15 ml, only the spout on it was larger. It sprays well, strongly, but with repeated use the hole apparently dries out and you have to spray twice. What I liked is that Afrin really doesn’t flow down the throat or out of the nose, even after 2 full sprays. This is true. It begins to act soon, not in a minute of course, but in about 5 minutes, no more. And they also missed something about 12 o’clock, it seems to me, I repeated it again 6 hours later. Of course, its price is higher than others, but I liked it.

If the hole dries up, you can put the spout in the water for a while to soak the remains, I did that too once. Free advice: if after use you rinse immediately with water and wipe dry with a napkin, then nothing will happen. This applies not only to Afrin, but also to other similar sprinklers.

Today there are three types of Afrin, conventionally: red, green and blue; Afrin (red - the one in the photo), also known as the original, Afrin Extra with eucalyptus and menthol (green) and Afrin Moisturizing (blue). Colors in accordance with the color of the packaging and label on the bottle.

All three are nasal sprays based on oxymetazoline, Extra has a cooling effect due to levomenthol and cineol, Moisturizing has a moisture retention effect due to glycerol and macrogol (these are all additional components).

When I bought Afrin, they gave me touch gloves, Afrin also didn’t expect it, they put these gloves in my window - I can’t understand why they are touch gloves? Apparently for smartphones so that your hands don’t freeze. It was back in March, I bought a red pack, there was also a blue one, the gloves were also burgundy in color and on one of them there was a patch with the logo of the medicine. On the thumb, index and middle fingers of each glove, the tips are gray - apparently these are sensors, but the thread there is exactly the same, no different. And they don't work! The label says: a gift from Afrin, the material is acrylic, the manufacturer's address is China, this apparently explains everything. Manufactured by order of Bayer JSC. The red price for them is three kopecks.

Well, don't, okay? These gloves work great, you women always have something wrong with them. On my phone, everything that needs to be scrolled and scrolled, you can press with the gray tips and with all the other fingers. Maybe your phone is buggy, most likely.

My son (7 years old) said that this Afrin smells like paint. Which one, I ask? He says gouache. Although the instructions say: with a characteristic citrus smell) To be honest, I myself don’t smell any paint or citrus, but it eliminates congestion well.

Of course, with a stuffy nose you don’t smell anything at all, except maybe some ammonia. I just now sprayed myself with afrin (I asked my wife to buy any medicine for a runny nose that costs no less than 100 rubles), sprayed it in both nostrils and lay down on my back - after about 5 minutes I felt a chill, how good it was! More, more, then a general buzz, as if there was no runny nose. And only then do you feel what it smells like - the smell of gratitude to your beloved wife. And yes, afrin does not flow anywhere there, only where it is needed.

You know, I had never seen anything like this before Afrin - my nose started itching, like splashing. At first not much, then more, more, and as a result you sneeze. No, well, maybe it’s just a coincidence, but this didn’t happen with other drugs for the common cold. And I will support the speaker above: no lemons, oranges, etc. This spray has no smell.

It seems to me that there is a smell, not at all unpleasant. This spray works well, applies normally, does not itch or itch in the nose. A kind of foam forms inside, but it is not visible. It doesn’t leak out or in, and you can breathe much better after that. I consider Afrin one of the best in its category, the price is generally satisfactory.

What other foam will form?! Maybe the film missed a letter? If there was foam in your nose, you would most likely not be able to breathe. And it’s really great after it, I even did breathing exercises without any problems, although before that I was breathing like a fish through my mouth.

The medicine is not bad, I’ll say more - I liked it. Why I decided to write - just like that, I got stuck on the reviews today. Good luck to all! Natalya Ivanovna, greetings to you, you know from whom)

In fact, a powerful effect, I haven’t noticed this in others! I decided to use Afrin today for the first time, it’s just that the weather - cold, rain - is so annoying both literally and figuratively that... In short, my nose was stuffy in the morning, at first I thought it would go away on its own, but no, it’s like there’s a plug in my nose. So I chose it, watched TV, saw an advertisement, bought Afrin to check it out - and did not regret it, it breaks through with one injection. I can breathe freely now, let's see what happens next, but so far, great, thank you!

I didn’t like it, it’s expensive, but it works exactly the same as cheap vasoconstrictors. I also saw Relama, but I think it’s pure marketing. If you don’t believe me, if you have a runny nose, buy it yourself and compare. Whether something will drain there or not.

Men, be careful with Afrin if there is a problem with the prostate gland (adenoma). There may be major complications. It’s good that we read it on time, and only after my husband’s heart began to pound. In short, there are more side effects than advantages. Read the instructions carefully!

My husband took one injection twice a day before the holidays - this was enough to ease his breathing, but caused absolutely no side effects. I think that serious complications can only be expected with an overdose (we also read the instructions, and of course they were terrifying). In general, in normal doses there is probably no danger, although if your heart hurts, then it’s out of harm’s way. Again, the congestion needs to be removed somehow... Sea water is not an option, by the way.

Afrin

Ekaterina Ruchkina June 15, 2015

Description and instructions for the drug Afrin

Afrin - vasoconstrictor nasal drops. The drug contains a substance well known from other similar drugs - oxymetazoline. This component, acting locally, helps relieve swelling of the nasal mucosa, sinuses and eustachian tubes by reducing blood flow. Treatment with Afrin is convenient, since it contains auxiliary substances that prevent the solution from leaking out. When this medicine is instilled into the nose, it is evenly distributed over the surface of the mucous membrane, changing its consistency to viscous.

The Afrin moisturizing composition contains substances that retain moisture in the mucous layer. This contributes to a subjective improvement in well-being (pain and irritation disappears) and allows you to quickly restore health. Afrin Extra contains menthol, eucalyptus and camphor, which give a cooling sensation to the mucous membranes. There are Afrin sprays for children with sea salt - without a vasoconstrictor effect. They are used to wash and restore the mucous membrane.

In any case, this drug is a symptomatic remedy and should be used against the background of basic treatment measures.

Naturally, Afrin is released in drops. Before using the bottle for the first time, you need to shake it and spray several times. Further, the instructions for the drug Afrin recommend doing two or three sprays into each nostril. The break between uses should be about ten hours. But adult patients can use the drug three times a day. More frequent use is contraindicated.

Shake the bottle vigorously before each use.

  • Atrophy of the nasal mucosa;
  • Together and for two weeks before and after using MAO inhibitor drugs;
  • Treatment of preschool children;
  • Pregnancy and lactation (only on the recommendation of a doctor);
  • Chronic cardiovascular diseases;
  • Chronic kidney pathologies;
  • Angle-closure glaucoma;
  • Hyperthyroidism;
  • Severe prostate hyperplasia;

Side effects

Most often, adverse reactions to Afrin occur due to overuse - using it too often or for too long. In this case, the medicine may simply stop working. Locally, after instillation, some patients feel a burning sensation, which quickly passes.

In case of overdose or intolerance to the drug, systemic reactions from the cardiovascular or nervous systems are possible. For example, palpitations, insomnia, nausea or headaches may develop.

Analogs are cheaper than Afrin

Since vasoconstrictor drops are the most popular medicine for colds of various kinds, oxymetazoline is present in a variety of remedies, for example:

Many analogues cost less than Afrin, but Nesopin is the cheapest. Savings on one bottle can amount to more than 150 rubles.

Reviews about Afrin

Generally, reviews about Afrin are good. People love how it sprays into the nostril. Many note that this product really “sticks to the mucous membrane without running down the throat.

  • — I thought that Afrin was much more expensive than any simple “nazivins”, but, in general, there is not much difference. But it works better. It doesn't last for two hours, but for the whole night.

Some people report that the advertised ten to twelve hours of effectiveness for these drops is exaggerated:

  • — Well, if the effect of Afrin lasts six hours, that’s already a success.
  • “I don’t know how you can spray Afrin only three times a day.” I need it at least six times.

Finally, for some Afrin does not help relieve nasal congestion at all:

  • — This Afrin was advertised. But it doesn't work at all. It made my nose run even more.

Apparently, in the latter case there was an adverse reaction to the drug. Or used baby sea salt spray.

When using vasoconstrictor nasal drops, you should always be careful. Too often, people exceed the permissible doses and duration of treatment, which leads to serious consequences: mucosal atrophy, decreased response to medications, and dependence on such drugs.

Also, it is better to always clean the mucous membrane before instillation: blow your nose and rinse your nose with saline solution or just water. Then the Afrin effect will be more noticeable.

    Dependence on vasoconstrictors! SOS!!!

    Help me!!! I’ve read here many times about dependence on vasoconstrictors, it was strange, to be honest - well, don’t use it and that’s it, but now I’m on this “drug” myself. Has anyone encountered this problem? what to do? I’m just at the beginning, I’m only addicted for a day or two at most, I don’t want to get addicted for years, but I can’t live without these moronic drugs either(((((((((

    Read more. On Tuesday I had a runny nose - a very strong one - maybe a cold, maybe on the first sun of spring (it happens to me), at work it’s simply impossible, everything is running + congested, and I work with people. I had to go to the pharmacy in the evening, and gave me some kind of Afrin - just a miracle remedy - I worked all Wednesday and Thursday like a healthy person - I sprayed it in the morning and it was super until the evening. Today I have already begun to understand that I do not have a runny nose, and without drops I simply cannot breathe at all, my hands are reaching out to the bottle. I remembered these blogs and questions about addiction. I’m sitting there trying to overcome myself. so as not to drip - humidifier at maximum, aquamaris every half hour - I can’t breathe, only through my mouth, I’m waiting for the night with horror. addiction, I already understand that for sure..

    Either they weren’t fully treated or they’re allergic. rhinitis.

    This is the first time in my life that I have had such a situation. Snot is a rare occurrence for me. Moreover, congestion. Before this, I sprayed vasoconstrictors 2-3 times at most in my entire adult life, usually Aquamaris and for 2-3 days everything was great. I don’t know what kind of disgusting thing Afrin is, they immediately told me that he is very strong, in fact, the whole day he has no runny nose at all, no congestion. made in Canada.

    I have a friend who is a doctor!! And she constantly sprays something into her nose. for two years now! I’m embarrassed to talk about this with her, but I think she’s addicted!

    Girls, stay out of harm's way, don't buy this rubbish.

    You can also rinse your nose. A salty solution helps very well: a teaspoon of salt per glass of water. Pinch one nostril, inject it into the other with a syringe or pipette, and rinse. Helps me quickly.

    Try lying on the sofa and hanging your head down; if you experience a sharp headache, then this is another symptom. Well, press with your hands around the nose, above the upper jaw.

    I would also advise you to use homeopathic remedies, such as delofen or euphorbium compositum. Although the benefits of homeopathy are disputed by modern medicine, it helps most. During pregnancy, I was saved only by these means, it relieves swelling of the mucous membrane - it is not addictive.

    But tolerating it is harmful: both the body and the nervous system suffer due to lack of oxygen))

    drops for congestion only as a last resort at night. It's better to wait a couple of days without them. Let him go.

    There is also an exotic way, to light juniper pine needles and breathe this smoke (of course, not directly over the plate, just stay in this room for a while). You can also use wormwood smoke. But here everything very much depends on individual tolerance.

    I myself suffered from allergic rhinitis for many years + endless colds. If your nose wasn't running, it was stuffy. I went everywhere with drops. And so it was, until one day I got a runny nose again, the drops didn’t help, and I got an overdose. After that I started looking for an alternative.

    In general, everything is ambiguous for you, see a specialist

    Local reactions: dryness and burning sensation of the nasal mucosa, dry mouth or throat, sneezing, “ricochet” swelling of the mucous membrane (increased nasal discharge or nasal congestion). Now just moisturize the mucous membrane - read...maybe with oils, maybe some kind of ointment. and yes, vasoconstrictors are evil!

    Author, also check the teeth near the sinuses.

    Thank you very much for your support, you reassured me very much, the temperature is holding, thank God!

    Efrosinyushka, Katyushka will definitely have a brother or sister!!!! And everything will be x.

    iepurashu, I just entered the dark, and here. Insanely sorry.((I sincerely sympathize with you. God bless you.

    Afrin - detailed instructions for use, price, reviews, analogues

    How to take Afrin correctly?

    Afrin is a pharmaceutical spray that is prescribed to relieve swelling of the nasal cavity. The drug does not dry out the mucous membrane, quickly eliminates nasal congestion, and has a long-lasting effect. In this instruction for use, we will consider: what exactly Afrin treats, when the drug is indicated, how much it costs and what can replace it.

    Composition of nasal spray

    The main component of the remedy is oxymetazoline, which:

    • narrows the capillaries of the nasal cavity;
    • relieves swelling;
    • makes breathing easier.

    "Afrin Extro" contains a number of natural ingredients - menthol, camphor and eucalyptus. They cool the mucous membrane and help cope with inflammation.

    The composition also contains other compounds that make the consistency of the spray more viscous. As a result, the suspension does not flow out of the nose, does not roll down the throat, but remains in the nasal cavity. This increases its duration and effectiveness.

    The Clean Sea children's spray also deserves attention. It does not contain oxymetazoline or other artificial chemicals. The composition contains only a solution of low concentration salts, which allows you to quickly clear the nostrils without harm to health.

    Indications for use Afrin

    Are you wondering what the drug helps with? With its help you can quickly eliminate congestion. But this remedy does not affect the cause of the disease, it is symptomatic. The spray is prescribed in the following cases:

    • acute, allergic rhinitis;
    • acute, chronic sinusitis;
    • sinus inflammation;
    • inflammation of the tissues of the middle ear.

    The medication is sometimes used before rhinoscopy to relieve swelling and improve the patency of the nasal passages.

    Preparative form and types of product

    The medicine is a white suspension with an oxymetazoline concentration of 0.05%. It goes on sale in plastic bottles with a sprayer, which allows it to be used in doses. The dispenser is closed with a cap, this prevents the entry of microorganisms. The volume of liquid in the vial is 15 ml.

    There are the following types of nasal spray for adults:

    These products differ in composition, but only slightly. For example, Moisturizing contains glycerol and macrogol (moisture-holding substances), and Extro contains camphor, menthol and eucalyptus, which soothe and cool irritated mucous membranes.

    Clean Sea spray is prescribed for children. It is produced in bottles of 20 and 75 ml. The only component is sea water.

    How to use Afrin? Instructions for use of the spray

    The medication can be used by adults and children over 6 years of age. The recommended duration of use is 5 days. You can use the drug 2-3 times a day, it is advisable that the interval between injections be at least 10 hours.

    The rules for using the tool are as follows:

    1. Shake the bottle vigorously several times.
    2. Remove the protective cap.
    3. Activate the dispenser upon first use. To do this, press the sprayer a couple of times.
    4. Insert the dispenser into the nostril, holding the bottle vertically.
    5. While inhaling, produce 2-3 sprays.

    It is better to inject the medicine into both nasal passages, even with unilateral congestion.

    The active components begin to act within the first minute, and after 15 minutes the blood vessels narrow, swelling decreases, and nasal breathing is restored.

    Children's spray is intended for rinsing the nose. During the procedure, the child’s head should be tilted to the side: an injection is made into one nostril, and the drug flows out of the other along with mucus. Before and after rinsing your nose, you should blow your nose.

    Overdose

    Do not use a vasoconstrictor more than 3 times a day. This may lead to the following problems:

    • nausea and vomiting;
    • blue discoloration of the skin;
    • dyspnea;
    • pressure surges;
    • heart rhythm disturbance.

    If a medication containing oxymetazoline was accidentally taken in large quantities (for example, by a child), this may result in respiratory arrest or coma. If signs of overdose are detected, it is necessary to rinse the stomach and drink activated charcoal; in severe cases, immediately call an ambulance.

    Side effects

    If you follow the official instructions, side effects from using nasal drops are rare. They are usually mild and pass quickly. Here is a list of unwanted effects:

    • Local irritation: feeling of dryness in the nose, frequent sneezing;
    • Increased blood pressure, accelerated heartbeat;
    • Nausea;
    • Dizziness and headache;
    • Violation of the sleep-wake pattern.

    Sometimes allergies to individual components of the product are observed.

    With prolonged use of the medication (more than 7 days), redness of the tissues of the nose and throat and degradation of the mucous tissue of the nasal cavity are possible.

    When should the drug not be used? Contraindications

    The vasoconstrictor spray has strict contraindications, under which it should not be used under any circumstances.

    • atrophic rhinitis;
    • hypersensitivity and allergic reactions to individual components;
    • taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors;
    • children under 6 years of age (except for Clean Sea spray).

    Taking Afrin during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not advisable, but is not prohibited.

    It is also used with extreme caution for:

    • heart and vascular diseases: heart failure, arrhythmia, hypertension, plaque deposition;
    • hyperfunction of the thyroid gland;
    • prostate adenoma;
    • renal failure;
    • metabolic diseases: diabetes mellitus;
    • glaucoma.

    How much does Afrin cost? Price in pharmacies in Moscow and St. Petersburg

    You can buy a nasal spray at any Russian pharmacy without a prescription. Here's how much this medication costs:

    The price of the drug in online pharmacies is a little cheaper, but there is a chance of running into a fake. If you want to buy a spray for the common cold inexpensively, you will have to turn to domestic and foreign analogues.

    Analogues of Afrin in action and composition

    All vasoconstrictor nasal sprays and drops are analogous in action. Most of them contain xylometazoline as an active component in varying concentrations (0.05 - 0.1%). Among them:

    Sanorin drops contain naphazoline nitrate as an active ingredient, which also relieves swelling and pain in the nasopharynx. Of course, vasoconstrictor drops are several times cheaper, but when they are used, the nasal mucosa dries out and symptoms of overdose are more often observed.

    Analogs for the active substance (oxymetazoline):

    Afrin spray is one of the most expensive vasoconstrictor medications. But, judging by the reviews, it is also the most effective against nasal congestion.

    The drug Afrin Clean Sea, containing purified sea water, also has several analogues:

    Products with sea water are prescribed for irrigation of the nasal mucosa not only for children, but also for pregnant women. They can also be used to moisten the nasal passages when the indoor air is excessively dry.

    Consumer Reviews

    Kudryashova T.L., 29 years old, Chelyabinsk

    I have suffered from allergic rhinitis since childhood. I have tried many drops, they only help for a short time and dry out my nose. Extro spray removes congestion in just a minute and is effective for the next 8 hours. It also smells delicious and is very refreshing.

    I caught a cold in the summer under the air conditioning, my nose and ears were blocked. A runny nose was treated with Afrin Moisturizing spray. The product is quite effective, but cheaper drugs have also helped me in the past. In addition, after a few days of use, the effect decreased - addiction began to develop.

    I am a mother of two children, viral infections are not uncommon in our home. When the children once again got sniffly, it took the form of a Clean Sea spray. I was attracted by the composition and reasonable price. As it turned out, the remedy is very effective. It does not irritate the wings of the nose and acts very quickly. I sometimes use it myself in the winter to moisturize the mucous membranes, when the air in the apartment is very dry.

    "Afrin": reviews, indications, instructions for use

    Nasal congestion, breathing problems, constant discharge - this is something that every person faces from time to time. And sometimes it is simply impossible to do without the use of special medications. In modern medical practice, Afrin nasal drops are popular. Reviews about the medicine are positive, because it works almost instantly.

    Nevertheless, people who are faced with the need to use this solution are looking for any additional information. So what properties does the drug Afrin have? Instructions for use, recommendations and contraindications, cost and substitutes - this is the information that is worth reading.

    What is the drug? Information about release form and composition

    Patients are primarily interested in general information. The drug is released in the form of a solution for instillation into the nose. The drug is placed in 15 ml plastic bottles with a convenient plastic dispenser and sprayer.

    The main active ingredient is oxymetazoline hydrochloride (in 1 mg of solution - 0.5 mg of this compound). Of course, the composition also contains other substances, including benzyl alcohol, macrogol, disodium edetate dihydrate, sodium hydrogen phosphate, 17% benzalkonium chloride solution, as well as povidone, carmellose and lemon flavor. Purified water is used as a base.

    Pharmacological properties: how does the medicine act on the body?

    Does Afrin really help? Reviews from experts, as well as the results of clinical trials, indicate that the medicine is really effective for the common cold.

    As already mentioned, the solution contains oxymetazoline. This is an alpha-adrenergic stimulant that provides rapid constriction of small vessels. Thanks to this property, the medicine quickly relieves swelling of the nasal mucosa, Eustachian tubes and paranasal sinuses, thereby facilitating breathing and improving a person’s well-being.

    The presence of povidone, carmellose and some other components makes the solution more effective. After entering the nasal passages, the medicine becomes more viscous, so it does not flow down the throat, thereby prolonging the exposure time.

    Afrin nasal drops: when are they used?

    In what cases is treatment of mucous membranes with this product effective? "Afrin" for the nose is prescribed in the following cases:

    • the presence of rhinitis of infectious-inflammatory or allergic origin (in this case, the medicine is used for symptomatic therapy);
    • sinusitis, regardless of etiology;
    • hay fever;
    • inflammatory processes accompanied by swelling of the Eustachian tubes.

    Instructions for use, recommended doses

    Of course, this drug is effective. But only a doctor can prescribe a particular dose of Afrin to a patient. The instructions for use contain information for general information purposes only.

    For children over six years of age and adults, it is recommended to inject 2-3 drops into each nasal passage. The procedure is repeated an hour later (twice a day). In some cases, doctors recommend using nose drops three times a day, but in no case more often. Before use, the bottle with the solution must be shaken several times.

    Are there any contraindications?

    Is it always possible to use a medicine like Afrin? Of course, these drops, as well as almost any other drug, have a number of contraindications. To begin with, it is worth saying that the product has age restrictions. Afrin drops for children are used only if the patient is over 6 years old.

    The medicine is not prescribed if you have an allergic sensitivity to any substance present in the composition. Atrophic rhinitis is a contraindication. Afrin can be used during pregnancy only on the recommendation of a doctor, since clinical trials have not been conducted on representatives of this group. Also, drops cannot be used during therapy with MAO inhibitors.

    There are also relative contraindications. The drug is recommended to be used very carefully in patients with arrhythmias, lesions of the coronary arteries, and heart failure. The list of restrictions includes thyrotoxicosis, renal failure, as well as prostate hyperplasia if its appearance is accompanied by pronounced clinical signs.

    List of possible complications

    As evidenced by reviews and the results of statistical surveys, therapy is most often well tolerated. Adverse reactions are recorded extremely rarely. Nevertheless, their list is worth studying. The list of possible complications includes the following:

    • headaches, frequent dizziness, constant drowsiness;
    • dryness of the mucous membranes of the nose, an unpleasant burning sensation, which is accompanied by lacrimation;
    • increased anxiety, frequent mood swings;
    • dry throat and mouth;
    • increased heart rate;
    • various types of sleep disorders;
    • increased blood pressure;
    • allergic reactions (skin rashes, redness, severe swelling of the mucous membrane).

    Some patients note that injecting the solution is accompanied by frequent sneezing, which may be associated with an allergic reaction.

    It is worth noting that this medicine is intended for short-term relief of symptoms. Long-term therapy is fraught with complications. For example, benzalkonium chloride sometimes causes severe irritation of the mucous membranes of the nasal passages. Improper treatment can be fraught with atrophy of the nasal mucosa, reactive hyperemia, and tachyphylaxis.

    Is there a possibility of overdose?

    In fact, cases of overdose are extremely rare. In most cases, disruptions to the functioning of one or another organ system are associated with accidental ingestion of the solution. In such cases, nausea and abdominal discomfort occur. Patients often experience tachycardia and heart rhythm disturbances. Fever, a sharp increase in blood pressure, shortness of breath, and cyanosis of the skin are possible.

    When taking a large amount of the drug, there is a possibility of reactions from the nervous system - drowsiness, decreased body temperature, various mental disorders, and sometimes respiratory arrest and coma. A person with the symptoms described above should be seen immediately by a doctor. Therapy in this case is symptomatic.

    How much does the drug cost?

    In modern medical practice, a medicine such as Afrin is often used. Reviews indicate that the drops really help. But for many patients, cost is an important factor.

    The price will fluctuate depending on the type of medicine, as well as the place of purchase and some other factors. A 0.05% solution in a 15 ml bottle will cost approximately 250 rubles. The manufacturer also recommends a solution for washing the nasal passages “Afrin Clean Sea” - a 75 ml jar costs approximately rubles.

    Medicine "Afrin": analogues

    Unfortunately, it is not possible to use this medicine in all cases. Is it possible to replace Afrin nasal drops with something?

    Of course, on the modern pharmaceutical market there are a huge number of drugs of this type. By the way, many drops contain the same oxymetazoline as an active substance. Their list includes such drugs as Nazivin, Nazalong and Nazol. Synonyms are “Oxamet”, “Noxprey”, “Noxivin” and “Rinazolin” drops. The drugs Meralis, Xylometazoline, Otrivin, Tizin and Snoop have approximately the same properties.

    Of course, it is better to entrust the problem of selecting an analogue to a doctor, especially when it comes to treating a child or pregnant woman. Even though the spray is safe, you should not self-medicate.

    What do they say about drops? Reviews from patients and opinions of doctors

    What do they say about the drug "Afrin"? Reviews about the medicine are positive. Doctors say that the drops do their job perfectly, helping to ease breathing and relieve swelling. In some cases, you simply cannot do without such a medicine.

    Patients, in turn, confirm that the effect of the drops appears almost instantly - after a few minutes it becomes easier to breathe, congestion disappears. The drops are easy to use, and most often the body tolerates the therapy very well (this also applies to children). It is convenient to use the product to treat almost all family members. The advantages also include affordable cost, since many drugs with the same composition or properties will cost a larger amount.
