Sinuforte - acts locally in the area of the middle nasal passage, causing reflex secretion in the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses.

Stimulated reflex secretion in the form of mucopurulent discharge from the nasal cavity begins after taking the drug and can last up to 1.5 hours. This process leads to intensive physiological drainage and restoration of gas exchange in the paranasal sinuses. The drug does not cause significant residual effects of irritation of the nasal mucosa, does not linger in the nasal cavity and does not have a general systemic effect.

Lyophilisate of juice and extract of fresh tubers of European cyclamen + excipients.

The effect of the drug Sinuforte is the combined effect of the components of cyclamen; Kinetic studies are not possible because the complex of components cannot be traced using markers or biostudies. For the same reason, it is impossible to detect drug metabolites.

  • acute and chronic sinusitis: catarrhal or purulent sinusitis, frontal sinusitis, ethmoiditis, sphenoiditis; combined sinusitis (possibly combined with systemic and local antibacterial therapy);
  • postoperative rehabilitation after endoscopic surgical interventions (ethmoidotomy, maxillary ethmoidotomy, frontoethmoidohaymorotomy).

Lyophilisate (powder) for the preparation of a solution for intranasal administration (drops or nasal spray) 50 mg.

Instructions for use and usage diagram

Intranasally (into the nose), adults and children over 12 years old.

Sequence of actions when using the drug (preparation of solution for use):

1. Unscrew the cap of the bottle with the drug and remove the stopper.

2. Open the solvent bottle and break off the top part.

3. Completely pour the contents of the solvent into the bottle with the drug.

4. Screw the dispenser spray onto the bottle and shake until the drug is completely dissolved.

5. Remove the protective cap from the dispenser sprayer.

7. With the head in a vertical position, insert a dispenser spray into each nasal passage, hold your breath and spray with one click.

With each press, the dispenser sprays 0.13 ml (2-3 drops) of the drug, which is about 1.3 mg of the drug (single dose). The finished solution contains 38 doses of the drug.

The drug prepared in the above manner is administered once a day by spraying once into each nasal passage.

It is recommended to use the drug daily; if necessary, it can also be used every other day.

The duration of 1 course of treatment is days when the drug is administered every other day or 6-8 days when used daily.

To achieve a therapeutic effect, 6-8 injections of the drug are sufficient, however, a decrease in headaches or its complete cessation can be observed after 3-5 injections of the drug.

  • short-term feeling of mild or moderate burning in the nasopharynx;
  • reflex phenomena in the form of salivation;
  • facial redness;
  • short headache in the frontal region;
  • pale pink discharge from the nose as a result of capillary diapedesis;
  • Accidental contact of the drug with the eyes can cause severe irritation, as well as acute conjunctivitis.
  • hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
  • cystic polypous rhinosinusitis;
  • allergic rhinosinusopathy;
  • acute allergic reactions with manifestations in the nasal mucosa and facial area;
  • arterial hypertension 2-3 degrees;

Sinuforte ®

Lyophilisate for preparing a solution for intranasal administration is white to light brown in color, hygroscopic; the prepared solution is colorless to light yellow.

Solvent: water for injection - 5 ml.

50 mg - colorless glass bottles (1) complete with solvent (1 polyethylene bottle) and spray nozzle - plastic trays (1) - cardboard packs.

A herbal preparation for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the paranasal sinuses (SNS) and nasal cavity. The drug acts on the sensitive receptors of the trigeminal nerve in the area of the middle nasal meatus and causes reflex secretion in the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity and SNP. Stimulated hypersecretion is accompanied by a change in the rheological properties of the secretion and normalization of its viscosity. Reflex hypersecretion in combination with the anti-edematous effect of the drug leads to the evacuation of secretions from the sinuses into the nasopharynx and provides physiological drainage of all sinuses simultaneously. The drug helps restore mucociliary transport in the nasal cavity and SNP by enhancing the presence of the liquid part of the secretion in the surface layer of mucus. Sinuforte ® enhances blood microcirculation in the nasal mucosa and SNP. This is because parasympathetic stimulation, which activates secretion, also causes vasodilation of the vessels supplying the glands.

Increased reflex secretion in the form of serous-mucosal discharge is detected after a few minutes and can last from 30 to 120 minutes, depending on the individual characteristics of the body.

The effect of Sinuforte ® is due to the combined effects of cyclamen components, the most studied of which are triterpene saponins. Kinetic studies are not possible because all the components together cannot be traced using markers or bioassays. For the same reason, it is impossible to detect drug metabolites.

— complex therapy of acute and chronic sinusitis: sinusitis, sinusitis, ethmoiditis and sphenoiditis (in the case of purulent sinusitis, occurring with symptoms of generalization of infection and/or orbital complications, Sinuforte ® should be used only in combination with antibiotics). In case of uncomplicated course of the disease, it is possible to use the drug as a monotherapy under the supervision of a physician;

— complex therapy of rhinosinusitis accompanied by exudative otitis media;

— the period of early postoperative rehabilitation after endoscopic surgical interventions on the paranasal sinuses.

Adults and children over 5 years old:

— With each press, the dispenser sprays 0.13 ml (2-3 drops) of the drug, which is about 1.3 mg of the drug (single dose).

— The drug prepared in the above manner is administered once a day by spraying once into each nasal passage. It is recommended to do 2-3 test sprays into the air first.

— The drug is recommended to be used daily; if necessary, it can also be used every other day.

— The duration of one course of treatment is days when the drug is administered every other day or 6-8 days when used daily.

There may be a feeling of mild or moderate burning in the nasal cavity, salivation and/or lacrimation in response to irritation of the sensitive receptors of the trigeminal nerve.

In some cases, redness of the face, a short-term headache in the frontal region, or pale pink discharge from the nose may appear as a result of capillary diapedesis. The above short-term physiological reactions confirm the reflex mechanism of action of the drug and do not require cessation of treatment.

Allergic reactions are possible (including skin rash, shortness of breath, etc.). In these cases, it is recommended to stop taking the drug and consult a specialist.

- hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;

- cysts of the paranasal sinuses;

- allergic reactions (delayed and immediate type);

— arterial hypertension II-III degree;

- pregnancy and lactation (the safety of use during these periods has not been studied);

- children under 5 years of age (use in children under 5 years of age has not been studied).

During the period of postoperative rehabilitation after endoscopic interventions, Sinuforte ® is used on the second day to cleanse (sanitize) the paranasal sinuses and nasal cavity and reduce swelling of the mucous membrane. When using, avoid contact of Sinuforte ® with the eyes due to the presence of an irritating effect of the drug on the mucous membrane of the eye and the possible development of acute conjunctivitis.

It is recommended to hold your breath during administration of the drug.

Direct spraying of the drug should be carried out with one click with the head in a vertical position.

Before use, consultation with an otolaryngologist is recommended.

Currently, no cases of overdose of Sinuforte ® have been reported. Exceeding a single dose does not lead to an increase in the therapeutic effect and can cause a strong burning sensation and pain in the nasopharynx.

If symptoms of overdose appear, it is necessary to carry out symptomatic therapy: rinse the nasal cavity, gargle with warm water and use antihistamines.

It is necessary to refrain from prior administration, as well as simultaneous use of local anesthetics and/or local decongestants due to a possible violation of the mechanism of action of the drug Sinuforte ®.

If necessary, a combination of Sinuforte ® with antibacterial drugs is possible and acceptable.

Interactions with other drugs have not been studied to date.

At a temperature not exceeding 25°C in a place protected from light. After dilution, the drug is stored at a temperature of 2 to 8 ° C for 15 days in a place protected from light. Keep out of the reach of children! Shelf life: 5 years.

SINUFORTE INSTRUCTIONS

Prices on SINUFORT

Sinuforte is intended for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the paranasal sinuses. Made on a plant basis (extract and juice of European cyclamen). When it comes into contact with the mucous membrane of the middle nasal passage, Sinuforte causes a reflex secretion of the entire mucous membrane of the nose and paranasal sinuses. The stimulated reflex reaction develops immediately and lasts up to minutes (fluctuations depend on individual sensitivity to the drug) in the form of copious mucopurulent discharge. During hypersecretion, an increase in the volume of inflammatory exudate with altered rheological properties is observed. After using Sinuforte, the viscosity of the exudate normalizes.

Pharmacokinetic studies cannot be carried out, since the result of the action of Sinuforte is cumulative due to the action of all components of cyclamen, which cannot be traced using bioresearch or markers. Because of the same reason, it is not possible to detect drug metabolites in blood plasma and tissues.

· Chronic and acute sinusitis (purulent and catarrhal sinusitis, ethmoiditis, frontal sinusitis, sphenoiditis, polysinusitis);

· rehabilitation therapy after endoscopic operations (maxillary ethmoidotomy, ethmoidotomy, frontoethmoidohaymorotomy). In this case, treatment with Sinuforte is prescribed from the 2nd day after surgery to reduce swelling of the nasal mucosa and cleanse the paranasal sinuses.

Sinuforte can be used by children over 12 years of age and adults. Each press on the bottle results in the spraying of 2-3 drops of the drug (0.13 ml), which is a single dose (1.3 mg). The prepared solution includes 38 single doses.

1. Unscrew the cap of the bottle with lyophilized powder and remove the stopper.

2. Break off the top part and open the bottle with lyophilisate.

3. The contents of the bottle with the solvent are completely poured into the bottle with the lyophilisate.

4. The spray dispenser is screwed onto the bottle.

5. Shake the bottle until the powder is completely dissolved.

1. Remove the protective cap from the spray dispenser.

2. Make 2-3 presses on the dispenser into the air (test, to fill the system).

3. Insert the dispenser-spray into the nostril with the head in a vertical position and make one press (at the moment of spraying, you need to hold your breath).

Local reactions are possible: burning in the nasopharynx from mild to moderate, redness of the face (short-term), lacrimation and salivation (usually short-term). In isolated cases, short-term headaches occurred in the forehead; discoloration of nasal discharge in a pinkish color (due to capillary diapedesis). All local reactions confirm the local reflex effect, which is not an indication for discontinuation of the drug.

In case of contact with the mucous membrane of the eyes, acute conjunctivitis or severe irritation may develop.

· Rhinosinusopathy of allergic origin;

Arterial hypertension II-III degree;

· acute allergic reactions in the face and nasal mucosa;

· age up to 12 years (since clinical data on the safety and effectiveness of Sinuforte during this period are insufficient);

· pregnancy and breastfeeding period;

· hypersensitivity to the components of the drug Sinuforte.

Sinuforte is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.

You cannot simultaneously (or shortly before using the drug) inject Sinuforte and local anesthetics into the nasal cavity, since the effect of Sinuforte is neutralized. It is allowed to prescribe drugs that have an anti-edematous effect (epinephrine, ephedrine and others) simultaneously with Sinuforte. In case of bacterial infection, it is possible to combine the drug with antibacterial agents (according to indications).

There are no known cases of overdose to date. If a single dose is exceeded, a strong burning sensation in the nasal cavity and pain in the nasopharynx may occur. When the dose is increased, there is no increase in the therapeutic effect of the drug.

If the dosage is exceeded, it is necessary to prescribe atropine (subcutaneously), gargle and rinse the nasal passages with warm water.

Cardboard box contains:

1. Lyophilized powder for administration into the nasal cavity in a colorless glass bottle (1 pc). The lyophilisate is hygroscopic, white or light brown in color. After adding the solvent, the liquid is colorless or light yellow.

2. Solvent – polyethylene bottle (1 pc).

3. Dispenser nozzle (1 pc).

4. Plastic tray (1 piece).

Sinuforte is stored in a place protected from light and inaccessible to children, at a temperature of no more than 25°C. Do not use after the expiration date (3 years). The prepared solution for intranasal administration is stored for no more than 15 days at a temperature of 2-8°C.

Over-the-counter release is allowed.

Active substance (in 1 bottle): 50 mg of lyophilisate from the extract and juice of fresh European cyclamen tubers with a hemolytic index of 1:6000-1:12000.

Solvent (in 1 bottle): 5 ml of water for injection.

For Sinuforte treatment, consultation with an otolaryngologist is recommended.

The patient should inform the doctor about the simultaneous use of other drugs before treatment with Sinuforte.

Avoid getting the solution into your eyes. When injecting into the wasp cavity, do not tilt your head back or inhale!

Drops and spray Sinuforte - instructions for use, analogues

Instructions for use of Sinuforte indicate that this drug is used for the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the nasopharynx. A prolonged runny nose is often complicated by serious diseases in which an inflammatory process develops in the cavities adjacent to the nose. The drug Sinuforte is actively used in ENT practice and helps to avoid surgical intervention for sinusitis and inflammation of other localizations.

Sinuforte - composition and pharmacological action

The basis of the drug is the juice and extract of European cyclamen tubers. The active component alkaloid cyclamine has a complex effect:

  • soothes irritated mucous membranes;
  • eliminates the inflammatory process;
  • destroys a wide range of pathogenic microorganisms;
  • fights viral agents.

Treatment of sinusitis of any form is always difficult, since purulent mucus accumulates in the cavity, thickens, and its outflow slows down. This leads to disruption of normal breathing, development of pathogenic microflora, and progression of mucosal edema.

Sinuforte spray penetrates into the inflamed area and is active against receptors sensitive to saponins, the components of the drug. This effect leads to excitation of the neurons of the trigeminal nerve and, as a result, to an increase and acceleration of the secretion and outflow of fluid from the nasal sinuses.

Also, the drug Sinuforte dilutes pus and helps to quickly get rid of swelling of the mucous membrane. Reviews indicate that the complex action of the drug allows you to effectively and quickly cleanse inflamed cavities and facilitate nasal breathing.

Release form of the drug

The drug Sinuforte is available in the form of a lyophilisate, from which a solution can be prepared for spraying into the nasal passages. The medicine is sold in pharmacies in clear glass bottles of 50 mg. The package with the drug also contains a spray nozzle. The contents of the bottle are a brownish or white suspension, which after dissolution becomes light yellow. The drug comes with a solvent, an ampoule of water for injection, 5 ml.

The active substance, cyclamen, exhibits a toxic effect, so the use of the drug must be strictly dosed. Sinuforte drops for sinusitis are a non-existent form of the drug. It is available only in the form of a lyophilisate, which, after dissolution, can be used in the form of a spray, which allows for precise control of the dose.

Sinuforte is sold in pharmacies, subject to availability. The price of an imported medicine varies from 1,400 to 1,800 rubles.

Indications for use

The medicine is prescribed to patients as one of the means of complex therapy for the following diseases:

This drug is also used for prophylactic purposes - to prevent inflammation and complications during the rehabilitation period after surgery affecting the sinuses.

Contraindications

Sinuforte has an effective effect, clearing the nasal sinuses of purulent contents if certain conditions are met:

  • the patient does not experience allergic reactions to medicinal plants, and also does not suffer from hypersensitivity to the juice and extract of cyclamen tubers.
  • the patient does not have polyps in the nose or cysts in the paranasal sinuses;
  • the patient does not suffer from arterial hypertension of 2 or 3 degrees.

Allergic sinusitis is also an absolute contraindication to the use of Sinuforte. Due to the lack of clinical experience with use, the drug should not be prescribed to children under 5 years of age, as well as pregnant and lactating women.

Instructions for use

The instructions for use of the drug provide clear explanations about the preparation of the drug. The lyophilisate must be dissolved in 5 ml of injection liquid, which is included in the kit, and then put the spray nozzle on the bottle. Next, shake the solution thoroughly until the powder is completely dissolved.

Immediately before use, be sure to make two test sprays into the air. When injecting into the nose, it is necessary to hold your breath to prevent the aggressive active substance from entering the respiratory tract. In this case, you should not take a deep breath at the time of administration of the drug. This can lead to bronchospasm, laryngospasm, or provoke pulmonary edema. Patients who are prone to brochospasms should first consult with a specialist before using Sinuforte.

Sinuforte should be used carefully, avoiding accidental contact of the solution with the eyes - this can provoke the development of an acute inflammatory process. If the drug does get into your eyes, you should immediately rinse them with plenty of water and seek help from an ophthalmologist.

The duration of therapy and the daily dose of the drug are determined individually for each patient, depending on the nature of the disease and its course. According to the instructions, the recommended dosage for adults and children over 5 years of age per day is 1 spray into each nasal passage. After 5 days, the frequency of application is reduced, a single injection is performed every other day.

As a prophylactic agent in the postoperative period, Sinuforte is used only in the first two days after the intervention. If there are special indications from the attending physician, the recommended duration of use may be increased.

Side effects

The prepared solution is usually well tolerated by patients. However, in the presence of increased individual sensitivity, the use of the drug can cause a number of adverse reactions:

In persons prone to severe allergic reactions, the first use of Sinuforte may result in angioedema. If such a reaction occurs, use of the drug must be stopped immediately and emergency medical assistance must be sought.

There is no information about cases of drug overdose, since proper use of the drug eliminates such a situation. Prolonged and uncontrolled use of Sinuforte can lead to attacks of headache, rapid heartbeat, as well as intensification and exacerbation of the above-described adverse reactions.

Analogs

The cost of Sinuforte is quite high, so many are looking for analogues of this medicine. Unfortunately, there are no medicines with identical composition and active ingredients in pharmacies. However, you can find drugs that belong to the same pharmacological group and have a similar range of actions.

Aquamaris is a medicine whose main component is sea water. The content of useful natural salts and microelements in it provides a healing effect. It is expressed in anti-inflammatory, softening and anti-edema effects on the mucous membrane. The use of Aquamaris for sinusitis helps speed up the removal of excess secretions and pus, as well as cleanse the nasal cavity of viruses and bacteria.

The drug can be used as one of the means of complex therapy, as well as for the prevention of inflammation of the paranasal sinuses. The main advantage of Aquamaris is that it can be used for children from 1 year old. The product is available in the form of drops or spray. The course of treatment with drops lasts up to 4 weeks, depending on the patient’s condition. Daily dosage – 2 drops 3-4 times a day in each nostril. The spray is also used for up to 4 weeks and 2-3 injections are made 4-8 times a day. The only contraindication to the use of the drug is individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Sinupret is another analogue, which is a herbal preparation with pronounced anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous and antiseptic effects. For sinusitis, it is used as one of the means of complex therapy in combination with taking antibacterial drugs. Sinupret clears the nasal sinuses of purulent discharge, reduces swelling of the mucous membrane, increases local immunity, relieves inflammation and accelerates the removal of secretions.

The drug is contraindicated in children under 2 years of age, with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug and with alcoholism. Use during pregnancy is possible only according to doctor's indications and in the form of pills. Breastfeeding women are contraindicated to use the drug due to the lack of clinical experience. The duration of therapy is from 1 to 2 weeks. The doctor selects the dosage taking into account the patient’s age and the severity of symptoms.

Reviews about the application

The drug turned out to be very expensive, but there were no analogues in composition, so I had to buy it. But the high price turned out to be the only disadvantage of this medicine. Already after the first injection, within a few minutes, my son began to have copious mucus coming out of his nose. It immediately became easier for him to breathe; he no longer complained about the heaviness in the bridge of his nose.

After three days, only a slight runny nose remained, the swelling went away, and the mucus did not stagnate in the sinuses. After 5 days, all unpleasant symptoms disappeared and we stopped taking it. Despite the fact that the spray is expensive, it lasts for a long time - about 38 doses.

It helped, but it only lasted for a week at most, and with any mild cold the nasal congestion returned. Friends recommended Sinuforte, but warned that the drug was expensive. I had to pay 1,500 rubles for it, but I really liked the effect. After the first injection there was a strong burning sensation, but then tears flowed and all the mucus that had accumulated in the maxillary sinuses came out.

Purulent discharge flowed like a river for 30 minutes. After that, my condition improved - I was breathing normally. The next day there was only a slight runny nose, the discharge was still there and went out quickly. After three days of use, the symptoms of sinusitis disappeared.

Review #3

But then, it seems, the healing process began. Discharge streamed from the nose and pus came out. By evening there was less mucus, and it became much easier for my husband to breathe. The treatment lasted five days, and this was enough to completely get rid of sinusitis.

Sinuforte: instructions for use

The drug Sinuforte belongs to the group of herbal medicines. It is used for the treatment and prevention of diseases of the sinuses and has a pronounced secretolytic and secretomotor effect.

Composition and release form of the drug

The drug Sinuforte is available in the form of lyophysiate for preparing a solution and then instilling it into the nasal passages. Sinuforte lyophysiate is sold in clear glass bottles of 50 mg. The bottle comes with a spray nozzle. The drug is packed in a plastic tray and a cardboard box with detailed instructions included.

The contents of the bottle are a white or brownish suspension; after dissolution, it is a light yellow transparent liquid. One bottle contains 50 mg of the active ingredient - lyophysiate juice and extract of fresh European cyclamen tubers. 5 ml of water for injection is included as a solvent.

Indications for use

The drug Sinuforte is prescribed to patients over 5 years of age as part of complex therapy for the following diseases:

The drug gives a good therapeutic effect for various purulent complications in the nasal cavities. Also, as an adjuvant, the drug can be used as part of complex therapy for otitis media of bacterial and purulent origin.

Lyophysiat Sinuforte is often prescribed to patients during the rehabilitation period after surgical and various interventions on the nasal cavity (puncture of the maxillary sinuses, endoscopic examinations) in order to prevent the development of inflammatory processes and complications.

Contraindications

Before starting to use the drug, you should carefully study the instructions supplied with the drug. Contraindications to the use of Sinuforte lyophysiate are:

  • nasal polyps;
  • sinus cysts;
  • individual intolerance to the components of the drug;
  • sinusitis or rhinosinusitis of allergic origin;
  • tendency to severe allergic reactions;
  • severe arterial hypertension;
  • age of a child under 5 years – data on the safety of the drug in children under this age are not provided and there is no clinical experience of use;
  • pregnancy and breastfeeding - due to lack of experience in use.

Method of administration and dosage of the drug

Lyophysiate Sinuforte is intended for intranasal administration (into the nose). Before injecting the drug into the nasal passages, the contents of the bottle must be dissolved in 5 ml of water for injection and shaken thoroughly.

The dosage of the drug and the duration of treatment are determined by the doctor individually for each patient. According to the instructions, children over 5 years old are sprayed with a dispenser once into each nasal passage, which corresponds to 2-3 drops of medicine. The drug is sprayed into the nose once a day for the first 5 days, then for the next 5 days the medicine can be administered every other day. The total duration of therapy may be several days; if there is no therapeutic effect or the course of the disease worsens, the patient should consult a doctor again.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Due to the lack of information regarding the safety of the drug for pregnant women and the fetus, Sinuforte lyophysiate is not prescribed to pregnant women.

It is not known whether the drug can be excreted in breast milk and how safe it is for the baby, therefore, due to the lack of clinical experience in using Sinuforte lyophysiate, it is not recommended to prescribe it to nursing mothers. If treatment with this drug is necessary, it is recommended to interrupt lactation.

Side effects

The drug is usually well tolerated by patients, but in persons with increased individual sensitivity, local adverse reactions may occur due to the use of the prepared solution:

  • burning in the nose;
  • sore throat;
  • coughing;
  • dyspnea;
  • lacrimation;
  • difficulty breathing;
  • tingling in the nose and constant sneezing.

In allergy sufferers, the initial use of the drug can lead to the development of nasopharyngeal edema or Quincke's edema. In such a situation, treatment with the drug should be stopped immediately, the patient should be given an antihistamine and consult a doctor immediately.

Overdose

Cases of overdose with Sinuforte have not been reported, since with proper use it is almost impossible. With prolonged and uncontrolled use, the patient experiences exacerbation and increased side effects, headache, shortness of breath, and rapid heartbeat. In this case, treatment with the drug should be stopped and medical help should be sought.

Interaction of the drug with other drugs

The drug Sinuforte is not prescribed simultaneously with local anesthetics, since in this case the mechanism of action of the drug is disrupted.

For various diseases of the nasal sinuses with complications and the addition of a bacterial infection, Sinuforte lyophysiat is prescribed simultaneously with antibiotics and antibacterial drugs (orally or in the form of injections).

If you use vasoconstrictor drops simultaneously with Sinuforte lyophysiate, you must wait at least 2 hours and do not instill medications at the same time.

special instructions

Lyophysiat Sinuforte can be used in the postoperative period on the sinuses to prevent bacterial infection and relieve swelling of the mucous membranes. If there are no special indications, then the solution is instilled into the nasal passages only in the first 2 days after the intervention.

When instilling the nose, it is important to ensure that the drug does not accidentally get into the eyes, as this can lead to the development of an acute inflammatory process. If this happens by accident, then the eyes should be rinsed with plenty of running water and consult an ophthalmologist.

At the time of spraying the medicine, the patient is advised to hold his breath, since a deep breath at the time of administration of the medicine can provoke laryngospasm, bronchospasm or pulmonary edema in severe cases.

Before using the drug, persons prone to bronchospasms should consult a doctor. The first spray of the medicine should be done into the air.

Data regarding the ability of the drug to influence the speed of psychomotor reactions have not been provided, therefore, when using the drug, caution should be exercised when driving a car and complex equipment that requires increased concentration.

Sinuforte for sinusitis: effectiveness, instructions for use and reviews

Sinusitis is an extremely unpleasant and, unfortunately, common disease. If you let it go, it could lead to hospitalization. It often leads to the need for treatment with surgical puncture of the sinuses, popularly called a puncture. The procedure is painful and unpleasant. But there is a drug that can ensure the removal of accumulated purulent contents from the sinus without a puncture. This is Sinuforte.

The action and effectiveness of Sinuforte in the treatment of sinusitis

Sinusitis is called inflammation of the maxillary (maxillary) paranasal sinus, which occurs as a complication of a runny nose that accompanies influenza, ARVI, scarlet fever and other diseases.

Often patients do not notice how one thing flows into another, it’s just that at some point not only discharge from the nose appears, but also pain when pressing on the lower edges of the bones under the eyes and/or when bending the body forward.

A small amount of liquid (secret) is constantly secreted into the sinus, preventing the mucous membrane from drying out and trapping microscopic dust particles, as well as cells of viruses and bacteria that enter it with the air; they simply get stuck in it, like insects in honey. The cilia are constantly moving, carrying all the “garbage” to the exit. This ensures natural cavities cleansing.

With sinusitis, the mucous membrane swells and becomes thicker, the cilia lose their mobility, more secretion is released into the cavity, it thickens, but does not find a way out, because the “transport” does not work, and the duct connecting the sinus with the nasal cavity becomes narrow or even closes.

And here Sinuforte’s help becomes invaluable: it irritates the receptors of the trigeminal nerve in the nasal passage, as a result of which increased secretion of the mucous membrane in the sinuses and nasal cavity begins. The secreted mucus is very liquid, so it dilutes what has already accumulated. In parallel with this drug:

  • reduces swelling, due to which the lumen of the passage connecting the sinus with the nasal cavity increases;
  • returns mobility to eyelashes, as a result of which the cleansing process starts;
  • improves blood microcirculation in the mucous membrane, which leads to a reduction in inflammation.

Increased secretion begins almost immediately after using the drug and lasts from 30 minutes to two hours. The patient initially feels irritation in the nose, sometimes quite severe, in the form of itching and sneezing. Then a profuse secretion of mucus begins. So it’s better to bury Sinuforte at home, having a sufficient number of handkerchiefs on hand. Of course, the intensity of sensations and discharge gradually decreases, after which long-awaited relief occurs.

There may not be a clear picture of irritation, but this does not mean that the drug does not work, it’s just that everyone has a different reaction.

Release form and composition

The drug is available in the form of a white to cream-colored lyophilisate (a dry residue formed when a frozen substance is dried in a vacuum) in clear glass bottles of 50 mg. Sterile purified water (5 ml per package) is suggested as a solvent. For convenient use there is a spray nozzle.

Note! Sinuforte does not have other forms of release, that is, it is not produced in the form of drops or tablets.

The lyophilisate is obtained from a mixture of juice and extract of European cyclamen tubers, which is also called Alpine violet. That is, the drug is completely natural.

Of all the components of cyclamen, triterpene saponins are the most studied, but the effect of the drug is due to the combined effect of all the substances that make up the plant.

Possible side effects

After spraying the drug onto the mucous membrane, a burning sensation in the nose, lacrimation and salivation, redness of the face, and a headache in the forehead often appear, which quickly passes. The discharge may turn pale pink due to the fact that red blood cells from the capillaries enter the nasal cavity. All these phenomena are natural consequences of the reflex action of Sinuforte and irritation of the trigeminal nerve. They do not require discontinuation of treatment.

Allergic reactions are possible. In this case, you should stop using the drug and consult a doctor.

Contraindications

Sinuforte is not recommended for use in the following conditions and diseases:

  • high sensitivity to the drug, allergic reactions;
  • polyps and cysts in the nose and sinuses;
  • allergic rhinitis;
  • high blood pressure.

Use in children under 5 years of age and pregnant women is also included among the contraindications, but only because no studies have been conducted to confirm the safety of the drug.

For children over 5 years of age, the drug can be used according to the instructions, but it is worth thinking about how the child will react to its effects. If your baby finds the itching in the nose unbearable, you can dilute the medication more strongly with water for injection.

When breastfeeding, Sinuforte can be safely used - the drug does not pass into milk due to the fact that it is used topically and in small doses, and there is no mention of its toxicity.

Instructions for use

  1. Before the first use, pour water into a bottle with lyophilisate, close with a spray cap and shake a little. The result is a transparent solution, sometimes with a yellowish tint. Please pay special attention that after dilution, the drug can be stored for only 15 days and only in the refrigerator.
  2. The product is sprayed into the nasal cavity, after making a test press to fill the dispenser completely.
  3. During irrigation, the head is held in an upright position and breathing is held.
  4. After using the medication, wash your hands thoroughly.

Care must be taken not to get the drug into the eyes, as it can cause irritation.

Treatment usually lasts from 6 to 16 days.

Sinuforte can be used not only for sinusitis, but also for inflammation of any other paranasal sinuses (frontitis, ethmoiditis, sphenoiditis).

What can replace Sinuforte?

A herbal remedy similar in effect is Kalanchoe juice. However, the pharmacy only sells an alcohol solution, which is not suitable for application to the nasal mucosa. Therefore, if there is a plant in the house, you can prepare medicine by squeezing the juice from its fresh leaves.

In Europe, Sinuforte is sold under the name Nasodren.

In addition, there are medications that have also proven themselves in the treatment of sinusitis, but have a different mechanism of action.

Reviews about the application

All review authors agree on one thing: the price of the drug is high. Most people who have experienced its effect on themselves note the appearance of strong discharge and burning in the nose, but at the same time they talk about the high effectiveness of Sinuforte:

I don’t know how it is for anyone, but the effect began to “cover” me already about 10 seconds after the first spray. I started sneezing terribly, 10 times in a row. At the same time, there was a feeling in my nose as if ground pepper had been poured there. The expression “tickle in the nose” is very suitable. Your eyes immediately began to water, in general, going out into the street in this form is strictly prohibited, so treatment must be carried out at a time when you are not going to go anywhere. My tearful-sneezing effect didn’t last very long, probably about 20 minutes. At some point it seemed to me that the effect of this spray was rather weak for me, they write up to 120 minutes, but I only have 15–20 minutes. Well, I sprayed it not just once in each nostril, but twice. And... nothing happened. As it is written in the instructions, increasing the dose of the drug does not increase its effectiveness, and it did not happen. But within a day, all the unpleasant symptoms of acute sinusitis disappeared, and after 6 days of daily use of Sinuforte, my nose became absolutely healthy.

The drug, of course, stings the nose very strongly, but the main thing is that there is a result! The pus began to drain from the left side, just after using it, within 5-15 minutes, when you want to blow your nose and sneeze often. In general, when I went to the doctor, everything was normal, and I was no longer in danger of getting a puncture! I was treated at home and went to work at the same time, and in 10 days I cured my sinusitis!

Others believe it is better to use alternative methods:

It worked great for me. It hurts terribly! Your nose itches, tears roll down, it burns like a child, it stings, then you start sneezing, and with sneezing comes great relief. On the plus side, I would like to note that such intense sneezing still leads to the fact that my sinuses are very cleared after sneezing. BUT!! It had no effect on my husband at all! Never sneezed once. Yes, my nose hurt, the mucous membrane burned, but the sneezing did not come. I checked it three times. Then I read that it really doesn’t work for everyone. So you can throw 1.5 tons down the drain if you don’t end up among the “lucky ones.” Children are allowed from 5 years old. I will never torture my eldest again. When my daughter was 8, I tried to spray it in one nostril - it hurt so much that I couldn’t do it in the second nostril (but I didn’t insist), I sneezed a lot, but it hurt so much that my nose turned red. A free analogue - the same sneezing effect, but not painful at all, fun and useful - the home flower Kalanchoe. Conclusion: I will not buy Sinuforte again. And I bought this one by accident, I didn’t know that Sinuforte only had a sneezing effect, and besides, it was so painful and at an exorbitant price. Plus the shelf life is only a couple of weeks.

Doctors note the high effectiveness and safety of the drug:

Professor, Head of the Department of ENT Diseases Grigory Ivanovich Garyuk emphasized that Sinuforte provides favorable outflow, improves drainage of the paranasal sinuses and thereby prevents the development of anaerobic microflora. Yaroslav Borisovich Sokolenko, Candidate of Medical Sciences, noted that the use of Sinuforte is also interesting because it is combined with traditional antibacterial, anti-inflammatory therapy, which is usually prescribed to patients with catarrhal or purulent processes in the paranasal sinuses. According to the head of the Department of Otolaryngology, Professor Miroslav Bogdanovich Kruk, Sinuforte gives excellent results in the treatment of acute and some chronic forms of sinusitis, frontal sinusitis, and ethmoiditis. The accumulated experience in the practical use of Sinuforte confirms its high effectiveness in the treatment of acute and chronic sinusitis. The use of this drug can significantly reduce the treatment time for sinusitis and make the treatment of this disease more gentle. Important factors are also the painlessness of the procedure, the absence of serious side effects, negative effects on the function of the ciliated epithelium, and only the local effect of the drug.

Scientific and practical conference of the Ukrainian Scientific and Medical Society of Otorhinolaryngologists

Of course, the doctor will decide how to treat sinusitis. But knowing that there is a drug that helps in the vast majority of cases, and is safe and natural, it is worth discussing with your doctor the possibility of using Sinuforte, a medicine made from plant materials that causes an increase in secretion of the mucous membrane of the paranasal sinuses.
