One of the drugs that contains the most popular bacteriophages is “Piobacteriophage”. Its features and dosage regimen for use in children will be discussed further.
Main characteristics of the drug "Piobacteriophage"
Bacteriophages are drugs based on the use of special viral compounds that destroy the dangerous, pathological bacteriological environment in the human body, but do not have a toxic effect on other vital systems.
Is it possible for children to take the drug?
The drug is indicated for the treatment of children, including newborns.
Indications for use
Most often, doctors prescribe “Piobacteriophage” for diseases of purulent and inflammatory origin that were caused by pathological bacteria. In addition, taking the drug is possible only after conducting a series of laboratory tests that can determine the exact name of the provoking bacteria. Treatment is possible after the recommendation of the attending physician or pediatrician.
Most often, the following diseases with confirmed bacteriological origin are subject to treatment with this remedy:
- Lesions of ENT organs.
- Acute and chronic inflammatory problems in the urinary excretory system.
- Skin pathologies with a clear inflammatory-purulent component.
- Infectious damage to the gastrointestinal tract.
- Problems of the organs of vision with a purulent-inflammatory element.

Reviews
- We got to know “Piobacteriophage” in the maternity hospital when our premature son was born. For prevention, we took the drug in the form of an enema and orally with a mixture. Problems with the gastrointestinal tract were avoided, the child is developing well.
- My child was prescribed Piobacteriophage after a bacterial middle ear infection. Place tampons with the contents of the ampoule 2 times a day. It helped quickly, the pain went away on the second day.
- A 9-month-old child was prescribed Piobacteriophage for skin rashes by his local pediatrician. We are more than happy with the result, because we’ve been trying to cure it for 3 months and still nothing, and the bacteriophage helped within a week.

Staphylococcal bacteriophage - a real alternative to antibiotics or a drug with questionable effectiveness?
Diseases of the ENT organs are distinguished by their wide prevalence among the population and the frequent formation of numerous and sometimes quite serious complications. The generally accepted approach to the treatment of such diseases is treatment with antibiotics, which is not without its drawbacks due to the development of bacterial resistance to agents with antimicrobial activity.
One of the most successful trends in the treatment of upper respiratory tract diseases of infectious origin is the use of bacteriophages. Information about bacterial viruses first appeared more than a hundred years ago, and the first data on effective treatment with their help were made at the beginning of the 20th century. However, the scope of use of phages is still quite limited. Recently, there has been interest in the possibilities that such therapy opens up. The drug Staphylococcal bacteriophage has become widespread in otorhinolaryngology.
>> The site presents an extensive selection of medications for the treatment of sinusitis and other nasal diseases. Enjoy it for your health! <
What is this medicine?
Bacteriophages are viruses that are destructive only against bacteria. The mechanism of their action is to penetrate the bacterial cell and interact with its genome, which leads to their reproduction and subsequent destruction of the pathogen. Most often, bacteriophages are specific and destroy only one specific type of pathogenic bacteria, but there are also polyvalent phages that can parasitize bacteria of different types.
Staphylococcal bacteriophage is a bacterial virus that can destroy only strains of staphylococci. It is believed that in one second a bacteriophage is capable of infecting about 10²³ bacterial cells. They work especially well against bacteria that have a dense polysaccharide cell membrane that is difficult for antibiotics to penetrate. In such cases, phage therapy has an advantage over antibiotic treatment.
Bacteriophages and antibiotics are not the same thing. These drugs are not interchangeable, and the decision to switch to phage therapy should only be made by a doctor. Despite the benefits of phages, in some cases it is not possible to achieve a cure without antibiotics. Before use, be sure to consult a doctor.
For any infection, can it be recommended to take staphylococcal bacteriophage?
The use of this medicine is justified only if the cause of the infection is bacteria of the genus Staphylococcus. The most common pathogen is Staphylococcus aureus. In the annotation for the drug, indications include diseases of various body systems, including enteral, surgical, and urogenital infections.
In ENT practice, it is used for the treatment and prevention of infections of the bronchi, trachea, nose, lungs, ear, throat (otitis, sinusitis, sinusitis, sinusitis, pharyngitis, tracheitis, bronchitis, pneumonia).
Detection of the sensitivity of pathogenic microorganisms to bacteriophage and its use in the early stages of disease development is the most important point in phage therapy.
Sometimes a medicine is prescribed without first determining sensitivity. Most often, in such cases, the doctor uses a combination of staphylococcal bacteriophage with an antibiotic, which enhances the effectiveness of treatment. It is prohibited to use phage monotherapy to treat an infection that occurs with signs of severe intoxication (fever, chills) without consulting a specialist.
How to use staphylococcal bacteriophage?
The drug is available in the form of a transparent solution with a yellowish tint. Before use, you need to pay attention to its color and the absence of sediment in the contents of the bottle.
The medicine is suitable for use both orally (orally) and topically (nasal mucosa, paranasal sinuses). In the treatment of infectious diseases of the nose and sinuses, the drug is prescribed in a dose of 2 to 10 ml 1-3 times a day. The solution can also be used to irrigate the nasal cavity, gargle and introduce moistened turundas into the nasal passages, which should be left for an hour.
When using, questions often arise about how to gargle correctly or how to drip staphylococcal bacteriophage into the nose, because these nuances are not well covered in the instructions. The solution should not be diluted with other liquids. To prevent the penetration of bacteria, it is better to remove the contents by piercing the stopper with a disposable sterile syringe. Then remove the needle from the syringe and immediately drop it into your nose or gargle, without first pouring the solution into a non-sterile container.
For preventive purposes, in case of unfavorable epidemiological conditions, weakening of the body, it is recommended to instill the bacteriophage into the nose monthly for one or two weeks, 2 times a day.
The effect of treatment with the drug should appear within the first two days. If the condition worsens, you must stop therapy yourself and immediately consult a doctor.
Due to the fact that the solution of staphylococcal bacteriophage contains a live culture of bacterial viruses, a number of rules should be followed when using it:
- wash your hands well before use;
- treat the bottle cap with a solution containing alcohol;
- do not leave the bottle cap on non-sterile objects;
- do not keep the bottle open;
- Store opened packaging only at temperatures from 2 to 8°C.
If used correctly, the bacteriophage can be used for 2 years after opening. Medicines that have expired cannot be used.
How to properly treat sinusitis with Staphylococcal bacteriophage?
Recently, the prevalence of chronic sinusitis has increased. For many years, antibiotics were used to prevent the transition of an acute process to a chronic one, but today the problem of the development of bacterial resistance to them has become very urgent. The most serious threat with regard to the development of sinusitis resistant to standard therapy is Staphylococcus aureus, when carried by Staphylococcus bacteriophage can be very effective.
To achieve the best effect of sinusitis therapy, the following scheme is proposed:
- Insert a catheter into the maxillary sinus and rinse it with 0.9% saline solution.
- Introduce 5 ml of bacteriophage solution into the sinus cavity. The procedure should be repeated 2 times a day for 5 or 6 days. This stage must be carried out in a clinic where a specialist installs a catheter.
- This stage of therapy can be carried out at home. It consists of instilling Staphylococcal bacteriophage into the nose, 5 drops in each nostril. It is also necessary to inject and leave turunda moistened with the drug in each nostril for 1 hour three times a day.
In severe cases of sinusitis, the specialist prescribes the simultaneous use of bacteriophage and antibiotics, which significantly reduces the duration of antibiotic therapy and increases its effectiveness.
Staphylococcal bacteriophage is safe for newborns
- 0 – 6 months – 5 milliliters;
- 6 - 12 months - 10 milliliters.
For children from one to three years old, the dosage of Staphylococcal bacteriophage is 15 milliliters, from 3 to 8 years old - 15 - 20 ml, over 8 years old - ml. For rectal administration, the dosage should be approximately doubled. The frequency of use should be determined by the doctor depending on the severity of the disease and the goals of therapy.
Which form of Staphylococcal bacteriophage should I choose: liquid, ointment or tablet?
To date, only one Staphylococcal bacteriophage has been registered in the Russian Federation, which is available in glass bottles of 20 ml and 100 ml. Staphylococcal bacteriophage does not have the form of tablets, rectal suppositories or ointments, but is presented only as a solution, which, if desired, can be ingested or used rectally with enemas.
Advantages of Staphylococcal bacteriophage over antibiotics
Like antibiotics, the main effect of bacteriophages is to destroy bacteria, but unlike them, phages have a number of advantages.
The table shows the main differences between antibiotics and bacteriophages.
The use of Staphylococcal bacteriophage during pregnancy is not prohibited, but before use it is necessary to consult a doctor.
Are there any disadvantages?
Such obvious advantages of bacteriophages should put an end to antibiotic therapy. But it's not that simple. In our country, bacteriophage therapy is gradually becoming more widespread, but foreign specialists are skeptical about them and never use them as the only means of treatment. What is the reason for this contradiction?
This medicine is not always effective enough against serious infections, and besides, it is strictly specific. Due to the fact that it is not intended for intravenous and intramuscular use, it is not always possible to achieve the required bactericidal concentration. Therapy with such drugs is a good support for antibiotics, but not a replacement for them.
Why might analogues of Staphylococcal bacteriophage be better than the original?
In our country, Staphylococcal bacteriophage has been produced by the Federal State Unitary Enterprise NPO Microgen of the Russian Ministry of Health since the 40s of the 20th century. It is unique in its own way and specific for bacteria of the genus Staphylococcus. Its cost ranges from 750 to 850 rubles.
To date, polyvalent bacteriophages (Sextaphage) have been synthesized, which are capable of destroying not only staphylococci, but also other bacteria that are important in the development of diseases of the ENT organs. It can be used topically, in the form of irrigation, rinsing, for rinsing and injection into the paranasal sinuses. The dose is determined individually. The duration of therapy can range from 5 to 15 days. If necessary, repeated courses of therapy can be carried out. The average price in pharmacies is 650 rubles.
Another product with a similar effect is Otofag gel, produced by the MicroMir Scientific and Production Center since 2012. This is a new drug that contains a cocktail of phages that has a wide spectrum of activity against various bacteria. It is recommended to apply the gel locally in the form of applications on the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity and palatine tonsils 2-3 times a day until symptoms disappear. The gel is easy to use and is often recommended as a preventive measure. The disadvantage may be that it is not suitable for washing the paranasal sinuses, which is very useful in the treatment of sinusitis. On average, its price is 850 rubles.
Polyvalent bacteriophages are better because they can be used for combined infections. Using only a specific bacteriophage without determining the sensitivity of bacteria to it, there is a risk of conducting a course of useless therapy. Combination drugs have a much wider spectrum of action. Considering approximately the same cost, it is sometimes better to give preference to a polyvalent medicine that can destroy bacteria of different types and strains.
Evidence base for the effectiveness of Staphylococcal bacteriophage
Staphylococcal bacteriophage has undergone a number of clinical trials, during which it has proven its effectiveness against infection with various strains of staphylococci. In particular, after phage therapy, in the majority of people who had moderate growth of Staphylococcus aureus on the mucous membrane, Staphylococcus aureus was not detected within one month. This is a very good result, because it is almost impossible to eliminate Staphylococcus aureus from the body by using standard antibiotic therapy.
In the examined group, the carriage rate of Staphylococcus aureus after treatment with Staphylococcal bacteriophage decreased from 35% to 5%. During the treatment, the subjects noted positive results in the form of disappearance of rhinitis, sore throat and sinus congestion.
Good articles to follow:
Very good promotion from pharmaceutical companies that release these drugs. No bacteriophage will ever replace a broad-spectrum antibiotic. The only question is the rational use of drugs. I would look into the eyes of a specialist who would prescribe bacteriophage to a child with moderate acute bronchitis or pneumonia.
Gentlemen, before you doubt, without trying the medicine, do not say loud words. Bacteriophages helped us a lot, despite the fact that we fell ill with purulent sore throat 3 times in a row, the first two times we took antibiotics, but the third time, although streptococcus was discovered, she said we’ll leave the therapy next time At the same time, the child’s sinusitis was not cured and the tonsils were enlarged to the 3rd degree. We drank bacteriophages and were very pleased, but the doctors still did not understand how we were cured.

"Piobacteriophage": instructions. "Piobacteriophage": reviews
Unfortunately, inflammatory diseases of bacterial origin can hardly be considered rare. Every person faces similar problems from time to time, regardless of age, gender or other indicators. So what treatments does modern medicine offer for treating such ailments?
Today, drugs based on bacteriophages are becoming increasingly popular. And quite often doctors prescribe the drug “Piobacteriophage” to their patients. The instructions for using it are quite simple, but it really does have an effect. But what is special about this drug? What does it contain? Are there any contraindications to therapy? This information will be of interest to many readers.
Description of the composition and release form of the drug
The drug “Pyobacteriophage complex liquid” is available in the form of a transparent yellowish solution. The liquid is placed in glass bottles with a capacity of 20 or 100 ml.
This drug is a mixture of bacteriophages that are obtained by lysis of bacterial cells. In particular, the solution contains bacteriophages that are active against enterococci, staphylococci, streptococci, Klebsiella, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas and Proteus. The resulting lysate is carefully filtered to remove pathogenic cell residues during the production process. Quinosol is used as a supporting buffer. By the way, the solution should be stored at a temperature of 2-8 degrees Celsius.
What properties does the drug have?
What effect can the drug “Piobacteriophage” provide? The instructions say that the medicine copes well with various types of infections. But why?
In fact, such medicines have unique properties. Bacteriophages are types of viruses that infect bacterial cells. Penetrating through the cell wall, the virus begins to actively multiply, using cellular resources for this. This, in turn, leads to the death of bacteria, lysis of their walls and the release of new viral particles.
It is also worth noting that the action of bacteriophages is highly specific. Viral particles infect only certain bacterial cells, without affecting either the structures of the body or the beneficial bacteria that are necessary to maintain the normal functioning of organ systems.
Indications for use
In what cases are patients prescribed the drug “Piobacteriophage”? The use of this tool is quite widespread. It is used to treat inflammatory diseases caused by the activity of phage-sensitive bacteria.
For example, taking the medicine is indicated for intestinal infections. In surgical practice, the drug is used to treat suppurations, burns, carbuncles, phlegmons, and boils. Also indications for use are infectious tonsillitis, otitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, pleurisy, pneumonia, pyelonephritis, cystitis, colpitis, salpingo-oophoritis, etc.
The drug "Piobacteriophage": instructions for use
Only a doctor can prescribe the use of this drug. The specialist will also determine the maximum effective dose and duration of therapy. So how to use the Piobacteriophage product correctly? The instructions in this case depend on the form of the disease, the patient’s condition and some other factors.
- For example, for skin lesions, the solution is used in the form of wet dressings, applications, irrigations, lotions, etc.
- When treating an abscess, a solution with bacteriophages is injected directly into the suppuration cavity, having previously thoroughly cleaned it of existing purulent masses.
- For diseases of the excretory system, the solution can be injected directly into the renal pelvis or into the cavity of the bladder.
- The drug can also be used for instillation, washing, gargling (for example, throat), irrigation.
- For intestinal diseases, enemas based on this solution will be effective.
- However, the drug is most often prescribed orally. In addition, for some diseases, it is advisable to combine several methods of administration at once to achieve maximum results.
The single dose is determined by the doctor. For adult patients and children over eight years of age, it is usually 50 ml. You need to take the drug three times a day (the number of doses may be reduced if therapy includes other procedures, such as enemas). The course of treatment in most cases lasts from 5 to 15 days. If we are talking about the prevention of a particular disease, then a seven-day intake will be enough.
Features of treatment of children under 6 months of age
Of course, this drug is widely used in pediatrics for the treatment of newborns and children in the first months of life. Treatment with “Pyobacteriophage” in this case has some features that are worth paying attention to.
When treating enterocolitis or sepsis in newborns (including premature babies), the method of so-called high enemas is used. Special catheters are used to irrigate the intestines. A single dose of enema medication is 10 ml, the procedure is repeated 2-3 times a day. If there is no vomiting, then the child can be given the solution orally, mixed with formula or breast milk - a single dose is 5 ml. Quite often, doctors recommend combining rectal and oral routes of drug administration. The course of therapy usually lasts from 5 to 15 days.
Are there any contraindications and side effects?
Of course, many people are interested in the question of whether all categories of patients are allowed to take the drug “Piobacteriophage”? The instructions state that this product has no contraindications. Moreover, no cases of severe adverse reactions have been reported. Sometimes patients experience a slight allergic reaction, but this is extremely rare.
The drug “Pyobacteriophage complex liquid” is often used to treat even newborns. Moreover, the drug is indispensable in the treatment of certain infections during pregnancy, because during this period of a woman’s life, traditional antibacterial therapy with antibiotics can only do harm.
But, despite all the safety, you should not use the medicine without permission - be sure to consult your doctor before starting therapy.
How much does the medicine cost?
For many patients, the issue of cost of a particular medicine is important. So how much will the drug “Piobacteriophage” cost? The price, of course, may fluctuate depending on the volume you purchase, the manufacturer, as well as the financial policy of the pharmacy.
On average, a package costs 900 rubles. But you need to keep in mind that to complete the full course of treatment you will most likely need several of these packages.
What to do if, for one reason or another, you cannot use the “Complex Liquid Pyobacteriophage”? The bacteriophage is also contained in some other drugs; if necessary, you can choose a substitute with almost the same properties. For example, such products as “Piobacteriophage polyvalent purified”, “Piopolyphage”, “Sextaphage” and some others are considered good analogues.
The drug "Piobacteriophage": reviews from doctors and patients
Patients also respond well to this product. It helps to cope with staphylococcus and other pathogenic microorganisms, does not harm health and has practically no contraindications. As for the negative aspects, it is worth mentioning the price, which may be too high for some patients. The disadvantages include a not very pleasant taste, as well as some difficulties that arise with storing the drug. But in any case, health is worth all the inconvenience.

Pyobacteriophage - instructions for use, composition and release form, indications, side effects and analogues
Diseases caused by bacterial infections can affect anyone, almost anywhere. Treatment of such problems is always complex. In recent years, bacteriophages have become the main component of therapy. These are specific viruses that destroy pathogenic bacteria. The use of drugs in this group has made it possible to advance in the treatment of many infectious diseases. The main thing is to accurately diagnose the type of pathogenic bacteria in order to select a bacteriophage suitable for therapy.
Instructions for use of Pyobacteriophage
Translated from Greek, bacteriophages are bacteria eaters. This biological term refers to special viruses that destroy “bad” bacterial cells. Phages are the most ancient and widespread form of viruses. They are in close proximity to bacteria. Their habitat is water, soil, air, living organisms, including humans.
Bacteriophages are already a worthy competitor to antibiotic therapy. Their advantages are:
- targeted effect – beneficial bacterial flora remains unharmed;
- no contraindications or addiction;
- effective combination in complex therapy;
- no inhibitory effect on the immune system;
- a pronounced effect in the treatment of indolent painful conditions caused by bacterial resistance to antibiotics.
Composition and release form
The drug consists of main and additional components. A detailed display of this data is presented in the table:
sterile purified filtrates of bacterial phagolysates:
8-hydroxyquinoline sulfate (0.0001 g/ml)
4 or 8 bottles of 20 ml
1 bottle 100 ml
Ampoules of 5 and 10 ml
Solution for oral, external and local use. Transparent yellow liquid with greenish tints
pharmachologic effect
Bacteriophage is an intracellular viral parasite. The principle of its activity is to penetrate into the bacterial cell. The task of the phage is to use the cellular structure for the purpose of reproduction at the expense of its reserves. Such a virus has only genetic material covered with a protein shell. For this reason, he has to look for suitable cellular organisms.
The destructive activity of the virus begins with the fact that it injects its genetic information into the body of the bacterium. Then the active reproduction of the bacteriophage begins. When a bacterial cell is destroyed, up to 200 phages are released. They immediately begin to destroy pathogenic bacteria around. Further proliferation of microorganisms continues until the complete absence of pathogenic cells.
Indications for use
Pyobacteriophage has proven itself to be an effective treatment for infections caused by pathogenic bacteria. Such infectious processes include:
- surgical – abscess, paraproctitis, osteomyelitis, purulent wounds, boils;
- enteral - dysbacteriosis, cholecystitis, gastritis, colitis;
- respiratory tract diseases - bronchitis, tracheitis, laryngitis, pneumonia;
- urogenital – colpitis, endometritis, cystitis, pyelonephritis, vaginal dysbiosis;
- purulent bacterial lesions of the eyes – conjunctivitis;
- blood poisoning - sepsis;
- diseases of the ENT organs - otitis media, tonsillitis, sinusitis.
The drug is used to treat any diseases caused by bacteria of staphylococcus, streptococcus, enterococci and other representatives of this group. For the purpose of prevention, bacteriophage is used to treat fresh infected surgical wounds. For epidemic indications - for the prevention of nosocomial infections.
Directions for use and dosage
The method of using Pyobacteriophage depends on the nature and location of the inflammation. Depending on these factors, the method of using the drug is divided into several types:
- orally – taking the medicine by mouth;
- rectally - administration of the phage using an enema;
- locally - irrigation, lotions, rinsing, instillation, washing, administration of turundas soaked in solution.
The dosage varies depending on the disease. It is divided as follows:
- Cavity wounds – up to 200 ml inside the cavity. For osteomyelitis – ml.
- Into the cavity of the bladder, renal pelvis through capillary drainage ml and 5-7 ml.
- Gynecology – intrauterine, intravaginal tampon 5-10 ml once a day.
- ENT organs – 2-10 ml 1-3 times a day. Turunda – for 1 hour.
- Ophthalmology – conjunctivitis, 3 drops 2-3 times, purulent corneal ulcer – 4-5 drops, purulent iridocyclitis – 6-8 drops every 3 hours.
- Stomatitis, periodontitis – rinse ml 3 times a day.
- Intestinal infections, dysbacteriosis - 3 times a day an hour before meals. Enema replaces 1 appointment.
The dosage for children depends not only on the cause of the disease and its duration. Age is the most important criterion for establishing specific volumes of the drug. The result of treatment depends on this. Age data regarding children is given in the table:

Pyobacteriophage polyvalent purified
The drug is a type of Pyobacteriophage. After the destruction of the bacterial cell culture, the resulting phages are isolated, filtered, purified and packaged under sterile conditions. The bacteria to be treated are Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli, streptococcus, staphylococcus, Klebsiella, and Proteus. The liquid is an antibacterial and immunostimulating agent. It is used for the treatment and prevention of purulent-inflammatory infections of the throat, eyes, and burns.
Pyobacteriophage complex
The same bacteriophage, only with an expanded name, which each manufacturer tries to make more memorable. The drug is presented in the form of a purified liquid and contains a mixture of active phage viruses. The substance is used in complex therapy to treat or prevent various types of infections - peritonitis, pleurisy, and the genitourinary system. The bacteriophage is indicated for use from the first days of life.
Sextaphage pyobacteriophage polyvalent
Sextaphage or Pyobacteriophage is a drug that is a mixture of sterile filters of viral phages. Available in ampoules or bottles with a yellowish, sometimes greenish liquid. The scope, properties and effectiveness of the drug are similar to the original one. The dosage and method of application are the same as the purified bacteriophage. The drug is used for purulent inflammation with increased body temperature, disturbances in stool and intestinal microflora.
Staphylococcal
This intracellular viral parasite is a component of Sextaphage and a combined bacteriophage. It is sold as a stand-alone drug. It contains bacteriophages specific only to staphylococci. Used for the treatment of septic infections in newborns, mastitis, frontal sinusitis, and the prevention of hospital infections caused by bacteria of this type.
Enemas
Administration of the drug directly into the intestines using an enema is indicated for infections caused by bacteria - pathogens against which the drug's bacteriophages are specific. In this case, a high enema is used - it requires a longer tip and a tube that raises the container with the drug. These enemas are used for:
- administering medication to newborns and infants;
- preoperative preparation in proctology departments;
- gynecological diseases, before operations;
- generalized exposure during the chronic course of the disease or a large area affected by infection.
Nose drops
Pyobacteriophage is often used to treat purulent infections of the nasal cavity and sinuses. In this case, instillations, rinsing, and irrigation of the inflammation site are used. In the treatment of sinusitis, applications that are applied to cotton swabs are common. They must be inserted into the nasal passage for at least 1 hour. Instillation is prescribed at the rate of 2-10 ml for both nasal sinuses. The procedure is repeated 1 to 3 times a day. This method is used for inflammation of the nasal mucosa during complicated ARVI.
special instructions
Before each use, the vial with the bacteriophage must be shaken and inspected. If there is cloudiness, the drug cannot be used. To avoid bacteria from the external environment entering the container, you should follow some rules:
- Wash your hands with special care.
- Treat the cap with an alcohol solution.
- Without opening the cork, remove the protective shell from it.
- If the cork does open, do not allow it to come into contact with the table surfaces. You can put it on a napkin soaked in alcohol.
- After use, you must keep the bottle closed.
When using small doses - from 2 to 8 drops, the drug must be taken from the bottle using a sterile syringe with a volume of 0.5-1 ml. There is no information about the possible effect of taking bacteriophage on the ability to drive vehicles or operate precision machinery. In retail pharmacy chains, the drug is dispensed without a doctor's prescription.
Pyobacteriophage during pregnancy
During pregnancy, the bacteriophage is indicated for use in purulent and inflammatory processes. The same applies to the period of breastfeeding. Due to their specific effects, phages have a detrimental effect only on pathogenic cells, without affecting healthy ones. But without an accurate clarification of the nature of the disease, it is impossible to self-medicate. At the same time, consultation with a gynecologist or pediatrician regarding the use of bacteriophage will not be superfluous.
In childhood
For newborns and children up to 6 months, the drug is used in the treatment of sepsis and enterocolitis in the form of high enemas. Oral administration is possible if there is no regurgitation. In this case, the substance is diluted with breast milk. For effective therapy, a combination of rectal and oral routes of drug administration is indicated. The course of treatment is 5-15 days. Prevention lasts 5-7 days. Treatment of pyoderma, omphalitis, and infected wounds involves the use of applications 2 times a day. To do this, a sterile napkin is moistened with the substance and applied to the umbilical wound.
Drug interactions
Alcohol compatibility
The effect of alcohol on the effect of the drug has not been established. Research of this kind simply has not been conducted. But to be confident in the results of therapy, you should refrain from drinking strong alcoholic beverages. Moreover, they are not compatible with most antibacterial drugs, which are often used in complex treatment with bacteriophages.
Side effects
There were no cases of side effects while taking the drug. In very rare cases, individual intolerance to any components is possible. This is expressed by nausea and dizziness. The cause of such conditions is not so much the drug itself as its improper use or violation of the shelf life or instructions for use.
Overdose
Exceeding the dosage specified in the instructions does not pose any danger to human health. There is no data on changes in status in case of overdose. It is recommended to observe accurate calculations of the required doses due to the low cost of the drug. This will eliminate the need to purchase additional bottles of the substance so that it is enough for the entire course of treatment prescribed by a specialist.
Contraindications
There are no direct contraindications to the use of bacteriophage. The use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation, children under 6 months can be considered relative. In these cases, consultation with a specialist is necessary to determine the cause of infection, select complex therapy, accurately calculate the dosage and course of treatment.
Terms of sale and storage
The shelf life of the bacteriophage is 24 months. In this case, storage conditions must be observed - a dry, dark place, away from children. The temperature ranges from +2 to +10 degrees. In this case, transportation can be carried out up to +25 degrees for 1 month. An expired bottle must not be used for medical purposes. It won't do any harm, but it won't have a therapeutic effect either.
Analogs
Some drugs contain Pyobacteriophage. Analogs by international nonproprietary name are:
- Sextaphage is polyvalent - specifically dissolves pathogenic bacteria.
- Piopolyphage - lyses pathogenic bacterial cells, including enterococci.
- Polyvalent bacteriophage purified liquid - filtrate of viral bacteriophages.
- complex Pyobacteriophage combined liquid - destroys microbes without disturbing the natural balance of the body.
- Intesti-bacteriophage - has a specific effect on a number of bacterial strains.
Price of Pyobacteriophage
The cost of the drug is relatively high, but it is justified by the therapeutic effect of the drug. The price range for Moscow is shown in the table:

Reviews
I was prescribed treatment for bacterial urethritis using antibiotics. Therapy continued for almost 3 months with adjustments to medications. As a result, urethritis remained, along with resistance to many antibiotics. Another urologist advised treatment with bacteriophages. The result came within a month - the terrible discharge and pain when urinating disappeared.
I tried to treat chronic pyelonephritis with medications, herbs, teas and tinctures. Nothing gave lasting results. I accidentally read about Sextaphage on the Internet and decided to try it. After many variations of treatment, I realized that bacteriophages are better used separately from medications. I have not experienced pain or other symptoms of the problem for 2 months now.
After the flu and complications in the form of pharyngitis and sinusitis, I began taking bacteriophage inhalations. During the illness, 3 types of antibiotics were prescribed. No one has helped as much as this wonderful liquid! There is only one minus - after the procedure, sometimes you feel nauseous to the point of vomiting. But I think that antibiotics are to blame for everything - the body is weakened by them. And thanks to bacteriophages for existing!
My son developed strange rashes on his skin when he was 8 months old. After tests it turned out that it was pyoderma caused by a staphylococcal infection. I asked the doctor about using a special bacteriophage. But the pediatrician had never even heard of such drugs. I took the risk of treating the child myself and was not mistaken. After just 2 weeks, the skin cleared up.
