Paracetamol or Theraflu

Can I take paracetamol with Theraflu?

Can Theraflu and paracetamol be taken at the same time if you have a fever? Are Theraflu and paracetamol compatible? Can I take paracetamol (Panadol) after Theraflu?

Before taking a medicine, I always read the instructions, no matter what the doctor prescribes.

Table of contents:

The instructions for paracetamol indicate the daily permissible dose, which is harmless to the body of an adult or child.

Why mix everything together? If you just run out of paracetamol, you can supplement the daily dose of 3 grams of paracetamol with paracetamol-containing drugs: Theraflu, Grippoflu, Panadol.

So why? Usually they are treated with one medicine, and do not take everything in a row, otherwise there will be side effects.

When a person gets sick, his natural desire is to get well as quickly as possible. To achieve this, he is ready to swallow pills by the handful. Unfortunately, not everyone, before prescribing a medicine, reads the instructions for this or that drug, and very few bother to find out what the main active ingredient is in the medicine they are taking.

Meanwhile, the main active ingredient in Theraflu is paracetamol. This means that the simultaneous use of Paracetamol and Theraflu will lead to an overdose of paracetamol, and an overdose of the drug has never brought any benefit to anyone. In general, taking these drugs together is possible only on the recommendation of a doctor in some exceptional cases. If you prefer to treat yourself, then you should take one of these drugs.

By the way, not so long ago there was a rather sensational case, a boy died. It turned out that his parents were trying to cure him of the flu or a cold, they gave him Paracetamol, Panadol, or Nurofen (I’m writing the names of the drugs at random, just as an example). All this in a fairly short period of time. In general, they tried by any means to lower the temperature and improve the child’s condition, but in the end all this led to a severe overdose of the main active ingredient, which was contained in all these drugs. The boy was taken to the hospital, but the doctors were powerless.

I am writing all this to emphasize how dangerous taking medications thoughtlessly can be!

Theraflu is paracetamol, only with flavorings. And its instructions say that it should be used with other paracetamol-containing drugs with caution, observing the daily dose and frequency of use.

It all depends on the situation. Of course, if a person has just taken Theraflu, then you should not immediately take a paracetamol tablet. Conversely, if you have taken paracetamol, you should not drink a hot drink on top - you need to give the drug time to act. But if one medicine has been taken, and the temperature does not decrease or has dropped just a little, then it is worth checking the calculations.

So, paracetamol itself, or Panadol for adults, contains 500 mg of paracetamol. Theraflu is a combination drug, where the main analgesic and antipyretic component is also paracetamol. In addition to it, it contains pheniramine and phenylephrine, plus flavorings and the like. Paracetamol itself per sachet contains 325 mg, but Theraflu Extra contains 650 mg.

The maximum daily dose of paracetamol is 3 grams, with the maximum single dose being 1 gram.

Thus, if a significant period of time has passed after taking Theraflu, and the temperature has dropped only by a couple of tenths of a degree, then you can take one paracetamol tablet, after eating something, so as not to harm the stomach. But if a person took Theraflu Extra, then the maximum that can be taken is half a tablet. This way the maximum dose will not be exceeded.

On the one hand, this seems impractical, because Theraflu already contains paracetamol, but still.

A regular Theraflu contains only 325 mg of paracetamol, while the average dosage for an adult is 500 mg; moreover, at very high temperatures, some take two paracetamol tablets at once. Accordingly, in this case, I consider it acceptable to take both Theraflu and one piece of paracetamol at the same time. But! There is also Theraflu Extra, in which the dose of paracetamol is already 650 mg, here it is better not to take risks and to avoid an overdose, there is no need to take both medications.

Be vigilant when taking any medications, including paracetamol. It is not as harmless as many people think; it also has a lot of side effects.

Take care of your health.

I don't understand what the point is in this. Most modern cold medicines sold in the form of instant drinks contain paracetamol. Moreover, it is very difficult to find a drug for colds that would work on something else. It is difficult to imagine a more effective substance. So you decide what you are going to take - a powdered drink or a couple of paracetamol tablets (as recommended by your doctor), washed down with plenty of warm liquid.

Theraflu already contains paracetamol. Almost a single dose for paracetamol.

If only for some reason you need to exceed the one-time dose. But it is up to the doctor to assess the need for such an excess.

Antipyretics (paracetamol, aspirin, analgin, Nurofen, Theraflu) and other symptomatic drugs for flu and colds. Release forms (powders, tablets, suppositories) for adults and children. Reviews, description and comparative analysis

  1. For an adult who has caught a cold or flu, this is 38.5 degrees Celsius or higher

Now we have some framework from which we can build. At temperatures below those indicated, you may feel ill, the suffering seems prohibitive, but think about it, is it really that bad? It may be better to tear yourself away from the monitor and just lie down, which will already improve your overall well-being when you are sick.

Paracetamol. This is a drug that has analgesic, antipyretic and weak anti-inflammatory effects. It acts indirectly through the centers of thermoregulation and pain. In my experience, it is a very effective medicine; it does not contain additional chemical dyes and preservatives, which is the problem with branded fever powders, the main component of which is paracetamol - Panadol, Tylenol, and Efferalgan. In this case, you overpay for additional components in the medicine that are not needed at all; the active ingredient is still paracetamol.

  • severe dysfunction of the liver and kidneys

Now let's look at paracetamol derivatives.

Panadol. A very popular drug in the past, which still produces good sales today. It is regular Paracetamol in film-coated tablets. Mothers are very fond of children's Panadol, which has convenient forms of release in the form of a suspension for oral administration. Although, if it’s the same paracetamol, then why pay more?

Coldrex. I found two forms of release: Coldrex in tablets and Kodrex HotRem - powder for preparing a solution.

Powder includes:

These are the main medicinal substances in the composition, plus they additionally contain various sweeteners, thickeners, dyes and other chemicals that have nothing to do with treatment.

  • liver and kidney dysfunction

Should be used with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is better to consult a doctor.

Coldact. Extended release capsules. Refers to symptomatic drugs for the treatment of colds, flu and acute respiratory viral infections. Eliminates pain, fever and rhinorrhea.

There are also many contraindications:

  • severe atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries

Not recommended for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Tylenol. There is nothing to say here - this is ordinary Paracetamol, with the same effects, indications and contraindications, in a variety of branded packaging:

Efferalgan. Also regular Paracetamol plus excipients. Available in:

Theraflu. Often confused with Tamiflu, but these are completely different medications. Used as a symptomatic drug for colds. Helps in the fight against high fever, chills, headache and muscle pain, cough, sneezing, runny nose.

Available in powder form for dissolution in water. It is necessary to dissolve the contents of the package in a glass of boiled hot water and drink it hot. May be taken every 4 hours if necessary, but not more than 3 doses per day.

  • liver and kidney dysfunction

Rinza and Rinzasip. The differences between both drugs are in the form of release and, to a lesser extent, in the composition of the active ingredients.

Dosage – 1 tablet 3-4 times a day. The maximum dose is 4 tablets. The course of treatment is no more than 5 days.

Dosage: adults and children over 15 years old, 1 sachet 3-4 times a day, but not more than 4 sachets per day. The course of treatment, as for tablets, is no more than 5 days.

  • liver and kidney dysfunction

Aspirin. Acetylsalicylic acid or aspirin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It has anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic effects, and also inhibits platelet aggregation, that is, it reduces blood clotting.

  • erosive and ulcerative diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (ulcers, gastritis, erosion of the stomach and intestines)

The dosage is individual. For adults, a single dose varies from 40 mg to 1 g, daily - from 150 mg to 8 g; frequency of application: once a day.

Nurofen. The main active ingredient of Nurofen tablets for oral administration is Ibuprofen 200 mg and excipients for weight. Effervescent tablets are also available for dissolution in water.

Children from 6 to 12 years old – 200 mg 4 times a day. The child's weight must be more than 20 kg to allow the use of Nurofen.

  • erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract in the acute phase, incl. gastric and duodenal ulcers, ulcerative colitis, peptic ulcers, Crohn's disease

Analgin. The active substance Metamizole sodium is a pyrazolone derivative. It has an antipyretic, analgesic and weak anti-inflammatory agent. It is used for pain of various origins, as well as fever caused by infectious and inflammatory diseases.

IM or IV slowly for adults mg 2-3 times a day. The maximum single dose is 1 g, the daily dose is 2 g. In children, it is used parenterally per 10 kg of body weight.

  • kidney and liver dysfunction

In my practice, I do not use it in any form, since the production of analgin that currently exists on the planet (mainly in India) is aimed at our market. In some countries of Europe, the USA, Japan and Australia, this drug is not used or is prohibited due to the development of a serious complication - agranulocytosis (a blood disease accompanied by a decrease in the level of neutrophils (neutropenia)), which can be fatal. So forget about the usual analgin tablet, there is a wide list of drugs that are less harmful and freely available.

Tablets Medisorb Paracetamol MS 500 mg No. 10 - review

how I take paracetamol instead of expensive Theraflu and Antigrippin

Paracetamol is a cheap and effective drug, the only one that the doctor allowed to drink at elevated temperatures during pregnancy.

It can also be given to infants.

If you read the compositions of Theraflu, Coldrex and other similar drugs, then they will all have the same composition: aspirin, paracetamol, vitamin C. These are the main components. Everything else is dyes, flavorings and aromas, as well as packaging and advertising for which we are charged money.

Therefore, in order not to waste money, I take half an aspirin and paracetamol tablet at the same time at the first symptoms of a cold, 3-4 times a day.

This method also helped with the flu with fever. The disease subsided in 2-3 days.

Of course I recommend it.

Schwarz483 recommends Medisorb Tablets Paracetamol MS 500 mg No. 10

instead of Coldrex

because the active ingredient is approximately the same. It costs several times less, it is not profitable to fake it, because it is cheap, the effect is the same, so as they say in advertising, why pay more? I always have these pills with me. has an analgesic and antipyretic effect.

Great for dysmenorrhea

I have been suffering from painful periods for over 20 years now. I went to doctors many times, had an ultrasound, but the doctors just shrugged their shoulders, saying that this is a feature of the body. They advised me to take painkillers or inject a lytic mixture on the first day.

Does your child have a high temperature? What to shoot down with? Antipyretic without dyes and flavors for children and adults

Good day to all! I was very surprised that there are a lot of reviews here for children’s syrups Panadol and Nurofen, but for their derivatives for 3 kopecks there are only one or two. And very undeservedly. Today I want to talk about paracetomol, an antipyretic and pain reliever for children and adults.

Can paracetamol-based products relieve ARVI?

Read also

For those who don’t have time to get sick, the pharmaceutical market offers many remedies “stronger than your cold.” And many firmly believe that Coldrex, TeraFlu, Fervex, Antigrippin and others like them can get rid of ARVI. “Doctor Peter” found out whether they are so good and whether there is a need for them from therapist Anna Bukocel and pharmacologist Alexander Slobozhanin.

“Coldrex”, “TeraFlu”, “Fervex”, “Antigrippin”, “Efferalgan” are just a promoted brand, experts are sure. All these drugs are just called differently. Their main active ingredients are the same - paracetamol and vitamin C. Paracetamol relieves fever and pain, so for some time after taking it, the malaise seems to go away. And vitamin C theoretically activates the body’s defenses, but the amount of it in “branded” antipyretics is ridiculous. In Coldrex, for example, there is only 30 mg of ascorbic acid, and in Fervex - 25. In 100 grams of citrus fruits, vitamin C is twice as much - 60 mg, and in apples - almost five and a half times - 169 mg.

In addition to paracetamol and ascorbic acid, some “cold medicines” include tonics and drugs that temporarily relieve a runny nose and lacrimation. But there are also only a few of them, and they do not last long. That is, none of these remedies can get rid of acute respiratory viral infections; they only relieve symptoms, but have no effect on the causes of the disease.

– Paracetamol-based products can only reduce the temperature. They definitely won’t be able to cure the infection,” explains Alexander Slobozhanin. — To cope with the cause of the disease, antibiotics are needed if the disease is bacterial in nature, or antiviral agents.

And if you remember that doctors generally do not recommend lowering the temperature when the thermometer has not risen above 38 degrees, then there is no point in using coldrexo-efferalgan-anti-influenza drugs at all.

– In principle, expensive antipyretics work. And if a person is happy with everything, why not use them when it is necessary to alleviate the condition, lower the temperature, if it is really high? — says Anna Bukocel. - But, in my opinion, it is much cheaper and more effective to buy paracetamol and vitamin C separately. By the way, the dose of one paracetamol tablet and its content in “promoted” antipyretics are approximately the same - 500 mg. Or you can just drink tea with honey and lemon.

Speaking of prices. Ordinary Paracetamol tablets cost on average 12 rubles per blister in St. Petersburg. And the price of “cold medicines” ranges from 75 rubles for a package of Coldrex at the Violet pharmacy to 255 rubles for Fervex at Healthy People and 250 rubles for a package of TeraFlu at First Aid.

As for dosages, Anna Bukocel does not recommend taking more than 2 grams of paracetamol per day - that’s 4 tablets of 500 mg. It is better to drink at least 1–2 grams of vitamin C per day.

But still, without consulting a doctor, doctors do not recommend taking these medications. Paracetamol is a toxic substance that is harmful to the liver and kidneys. Doctors around the world have long demanded a ban on its uncontrolled sale.

Therefore, it should not be used by people with severe liver or kidney dysfunction, anemia and alcoholism. Pregnant women and children under 6 years old should also not use it, and over 6 years old, the dosage should be small. In some “expensive antipyretics” it is calculated, and there is a mark on the package - “for children”.

The contraindications for popular antipyretics are approximately the same, but each of them has its own nuances, so you need to carefully read the instructions before use.

However, despite its toxicity, Paracetamol remains the most popular antipyretic. Doctors generally do not recommend using “Aspirin” and “Analgin” to reduce fever. Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) is bad for the stomach and can cause ulcers. Now it is used mainly to prevent blood clots. And “Analgin” (metamizole sodium) is completely prohibited in most countries, since it often produces severe side effects on the hematopoietic system.

But what about a regular citramone tablet, because it still contains the same paracetamol?!

Theraflu - list of cheap analogues with prices

Viral infections of the respiratory tract are always accompanied by unpleasant symptoms: runny nose, cough, headache, muscle aches, lack of appetite, hyperthermia. Some patients are sick for a maximum of three days, thanks to a strong immune system, others are on sick leave for up to two weeks.

This article will look at cheap analogues of the drug Theraflu, we will talk about the drug itself and compare the advantages and disadvantages of its analogues.

Immunity is a delicate thing; to keep it in good shape, you can’t do it with antiviral and immunomodulating agents alone. Hardening, exercise, balanced nutrition, resistance to stress - these are the main “pillars” of health that will help many citizens not to sponsor the pharmaceutical business, which has long become a plunderer of our pockets.

If, nevertheless, the flu or ARVI has visited the body, and your condition is far from normal, and traditional methods of treatment are not effective enough, you can resort to the help of drugs for the symptomatic treatment of acute respiratory diseases, which is what Teraflu is. It does not eliminate the cause of the disease, but facilitates its course, i.e. fights elevated body temperature, swelling of the nasopharynx, sneezing, chills and other unpleasant symptoms of ARVI.

The Swiss complex Theraflu is popular among the population and almost everyone knows it, advising each other this effective anti-cold remedy. Theraflu has a whole series of remedies for flu and colds - these are syrups, sprays, tablets and powders. The most popular were bags of powder. They taste like wild berries, oranges, lemons, apples and cinnamon.

A drink made from Theraflu powder quickly reduces the temperature, “clears” the head, and the patient feels almost healthy. But it should be noted that after a certain time has passed, when the effect of the powder has passed, the cold symptoms resume, then the patient should again take a dose (bag) of Theraflu.

While the virus multiplies in the body, the symptoms of the disease can be suppressed with the help of Theraflu or its analogues, which can be either cheaper or more expensive. Before moving directly to analogues, let's briefly get acquainted with the instructions for using the drug Theraflu in order to correctly navigate the choice of worthy substitutes.

Composition of Theraflu and the effect of the main substances

Theraflu is not one drug, but a group of drugs. The main active ingredients are paracetamol and phenylephrine. Some drugs included in the Theraflu complex are supplemented with pheniramine and vitamin C. The combination of the active components of Theraflu is a well-chosen composition that gives a quick therapeutic effect.

Paracetamol normalizes body temperature, relieves inflammatory reactions and reduces pain.

Phenylephrine has a vasoconstrictor effect, which helps relieve swelling of the nasopharynx and lacrimation.

Pheniramine is an antiallergic drug, so it will definitely be useful when itching, swelling, burning, sneezing, and other symptoms similar to allergies occur. Pheniramine enhances the therapeutic effect of the main active ingredients of Theraflu, and also exhibits a calming effect on the central nervous system.

Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) – thins the blood, normalizes temperature, affects the regulation of the immune system. It is not without reason that it is prescribed in loading doses for acute respiratory viral infections. While taking Theraflu, it is better to take an additional source of vitamin C from citrus fruits: lemons, oranges and grapefruits.

Instructions for use of Theraflu

Indications for use

Theraflu is indicated as a symptomatic treatment for the following manifestations of influenza and ARVI:

  • high body temperature (more than 38 degrees) - if the patient tolerates such a rise well, it is better not to lower the temperature so that the body can independently produce protective antibodies;
  • headache;
  • nasopharynx congestion and swelling;
  • joint and muscle pain;
  • “twisting” in the calves;
  • sneezing;
  • chills.

Contraindications

Despite the benefits of Theraflu for respiratory infections, we must not forget about its prohibition in certain diseases and conditions, they are as follows:

  • individual intolerance to active substances;
  • children under 12 years of age;
  • pregnancy and breastfeeding;
  • diabetes,
  • fructose intolerance;
  • alcohol addiction;
  • hypertension (portal).

There are also relative contraindications, then Theraflu is allowed to be taken, but this is done with great caution or minimal doses are used, these include:

  • hypertension;
  • gastritis;
  • bronchial asthma;
  • atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries in severe form;
  • renal and liver failure;
  • hematological diseases;
  • angle-closure glaucoma;
  • hyperthyroidism;
  • hyperplastic processes of the prostate gland;
  • hyperbilirubinemia.

It is not recommended to take Theraflu together with MAO inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants and beta-blockers.

Unfortunately, the list of contraindications is considerable, which does not allow the wide use of the remedy in question.

What are the possible side effects?

With a short course of treatment with Theraflu, as a rule, no adverse reactions occur. This statement usually applies to practically healthy people with normal immunity. In more weakened patients, the following side effects occur:

  • allergic reactions on the skin: dermatitis, urticaria, burning, itching;
  • angioedema;
  • dizziness;
  • drowsiness;
  • lethargy;
  • problems falling asleep;
  • excitability;
  • hypertension;
  • tachycardia;
  • retention of urine;
  • dyspeptic symptoms;
  • dry mouth;
  • nausea (possibly vomiting);
  • pain in the epigastrium;
  • increased intraocular pressure.

If any of the listed symptoms appear, the drug should be discontinued.

How to take Theraflu?

This question can be answered briefly - according to the instructions. It all depends on the form of the drug purchased at the pharmacy. Let's focus only on the powder, the most sold-out type of Theraflu.

The dosage is simple: pour the opened packet into hot boiled water, mix and drink. It is recommended to use only three of these bags per day, observing a minimum interval of 4 hours. The course of treatment should be stopped after the temperature normalizes, and you should not take Theraflu for more than 5 days.

Theraflu price

Today, the price of Theraflu has increased slightly; on average, one dose of the drug in powder can be purchased for 35–40 rubles. It is convenient to stock up on a package of Theraflu No. 10, which will cost between 350–450 rubles. Usually, ten sachets are enough to relieve acute symptoms of the disease. But it should be noted that despite the effectiveness of the drug Theraflu, many people with the flu are looking for a cheap analogue, and in some cases, preferring only a Russian substitute to imported drugs.

ATTENTION! WE RECOMMEND

For the treatment and prevention of runny nose, sore throat, ARVI and influenza in children and adults, Elena Malysheva recommends the effective drug Immunity from Russian scientists. Thanks to its unique, and most importantly 100% natural composition, the drug is extremely effective in treating sore throats, colds and strengthening the immune system.

Cheap analogues of Theraflu - list

Recently, there has been a great demand for analogues of expensive drugs that are cheaper, Theraflu is no exception, so let's make a list of drugs that are suitable in our case.

List of cheap analogs of Theraflu:

  • coldact flu plus (capsules No. 10) – 200 rubles;
  • stopgripan (powder No. 10) – 270 rubles;
  • rinicold Hotmix (powder No. 10) – 240 rubles;
  • upsarin UPSA (16 effervescent tablets) – 200 rubles;
  • maxicold Rino (powder No. 10) – 200 rubles;
  • classic antigrippin for adults (effervescent tablets No. 10) – 290 rubles;
  • influenza flu (powder No. 10) – 230 rubles;
  • Fervex UPSA (powder No. 8) – 300 rubles;
  • colds (powder No. 10) – 150 rubles;
  • rinzasip - (powder No. 10) - 330 rubles;
  • Coldrex Hotrem lemon (powder No. 10) – 330 rubles.

The presented analogues of Theraflu are cheaper, but some of them have a price that is slightly lower, only 20–30 rubles. Among the more expensive analogues, anti flu (powder No. 5) for 200 rubles and anvimax (powder No. 12) for 360 rubles are recommended.

It should be noted that the composition of many of the drugs under consideration is almost the same as Theraflu. For example, drugs such as stopgripan, flufluflu, maxicold Rino have the same active ingredients: paracetamol, pheniramine, vitamin C. The difference can only be in the amount of active ingredients.

Comparison of symptomatic remedies for influenza and ARVI

During colds, without waiting for a doctor, we often run to the pharmacy for “first aid”, buying products that alleviate all the “severe” symptoms of viral infections. Naturally, when choosing a drug, most sick citizens are confused and do not know what is best to buy.

Let's try to compare several effective remedies for cold symptoms, and highlight the benefits of each drug.

Anvimax or Theraflu?

Comparing these drugs, you can find a significant difference in their composition. The common active ingredients of both are only paracetamol and vitamin C. Theraflu also includes pheniramine and phenylephrine, and Anvimax contains rutoside trihydrate, calcium gluconate monohydrate chloratadine and rimantadine hydrochloride.

Anvimax, in addition to the antipyretic, analgesic and antihistamine effects that Theraflu also has, also has an antiviral, angioprotective and interferonogenic effect. Simply put, Anvimax is an etiotropic drug that, in addition to its symptomatic effects, is capable of eliminating the root cause of a viral infection.

Indications, contraindications, and side effects for the drugs are similar. The price of Anvimax is practically no different from the cost of Theraflu. Sometimes there is a small difference down to 50 rubles.

Teraflu is produced in a number of foreign countries, and Anvimax is a Russian-made drug. Unlike Theraflu, Anvimax is not used in children and adolescents, and this is its obvious disadvantage.

Due to the fact that both drugs have a large list of warnings, according to the current instructions, only a doctor should prescribe any of them.

Which is better – Fervex or Theraflu?

The drugs have almost the same composition, only Theraflu also contains phenylephrine hydrochloride. Fervex is approved from the age of 15, and Theraflu can be taken from the age of twelve.

According to other parameters - indications, contraindications, methods of administration, these drugs are identical. True, the instructions forbid using Fervex only in the 1st and 3rd trimester of pregnancy, which means that in the 2nd trimester the drug can be taken under the supervision of specialists. The price of Fervex is a little cheaper, about 50 rubles, and this is its plus.

Antigrippin or Theraflu - what to choose

Both drugs contain ascorbic acid and paracetamol; their other active substances are different. Antigrippin is allowed from 15 years of age, Theraflu from 12 years of age.

Antigrippin is about 60–70 rubles cheaper. Antigrippin's method of administration is a little more convenient; it can be dissolved in warm water and not drunk like a hot drink. Not all patients can tolerate hot drinks, and this makes it possible to take the medicine in a more comfortable manner.

According to other parameters, according to the instructions for the drugs, no significant differences are observed. When making a choice towards anti-grippin or Theraflu, they rather pay more attention to age admissibility, price and ease of use.

Coldrex or Theraflu - which is better?

Theraflu includes a substance such as pheniramine, the rest of the active composition is the same. Both drugs are used from the age of 12, and they are also similar in other parameters of the official instructions. Therefore it is very difficult to compare them.

Is that the price of Coldrex is slightly different, only 30–40 rubles.

Video comparison of Coldrex and Theraflu

The only thing you need to pay attention to is the amount of active ingredients in the medicines. For example, if you take paracetamol, then in some drugs there is more of it, and in others less, hence the strength of the antipyretic effect.

Many patients praise Theraflu, Coldrex and other powders. The choice usually leans towards individual susceptibility to either drug. For some, it helps more, for example, Fervex, and for others - Upsarin UPSA, everything is individual. Although, having examined the drugs, one could notice that their composition is 70% the same.

In general, there are more positive reviews about the presented analogues of Theraflu. Patients note a rapid decrease in body temperature, elimination of muscle pain and headaches. Respiratory symptoms also become less pronounced. Swelling is noticeably relieved and breathing through the nose improves.

Patients like the pleasant taste of Theraflu and its analogues, which makes it possible to give preference to lemon or, for example, raspberry powder. Patients, taking hot drinks, completely forget that they are drinking medicine. A kind of psychotherapy is also only beneficial.

When choosing analogues of Theraflu, we should not forget that all products are unsafe, especially for people suffering from various chronic diseases presented in the instructions. Therefore, consulting a doctor is paramount; perhaps you will be offered a milder or folk remedy to eliminate the symptoms of influenza and ARVI. Be healthy!

And a little about secrets.

If you or your child are often sick and are treated with antibiotics alone, know that you are only treating the effect, not the cause.

So you simply “spare” money to pharmacies and pharmaceutical companies and get sick more often.

STOP! Stop feeding someone you don't know. You just need to boost your immunity and you will forget what it’s like to be sick!

There is a way for this! Confirmed by E. Malysheva, A. Myasnikov and our readers! Read more.

What is more effective treatment: Theraflu or paracetamol? (the volume and the active substance itself are completely similar) =))

Regular Soviet paracetamol contains 500 mg (an adult man with a high temperature needs 1 g, i.e. 2 tablets)

Theraflu contains 330 mg of paracetamol, just like Efferalgan.

Is it worth mentioning the cost?

And most importantly, paracetamol does not cure, but only relieves symptoms. Get better

1. The presence of cold symptoms (fever, runny nose, cough, chills, but no sore throat yet), i.e. the disease has not yet penetrated deeply into the body -

for 1 glass of hot milk:

- ginger (dry, ground),

- cardamom (dry, ground)

1 teaspoon each:

Drink 1 glass hot at night and the second glass in the morning when you get up.

Soon there will be no trace of the cold left.

2.If a sore throat is added to the above symptoms,

that is, the disease has penetrated deep into the body, all the ingredients are the same, except -

cardamom, which (in the same dose) is replaced with TURMERIC (natural

antibiotic); but you should drink 4-6 glasses in 2 days.

The recipe has been tested and tested by me personally and on relatives - it is true.

5 popular analogues of Theraflu

TeraFlu is one of the most popular brands of the Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis. It is a series of anti-cold products, which includes powders, syrups, tablets and even throat sprays. This is truly an “ambulance” for those who don’t want to lie in bed for a week with a runny nose and sneezing. Let's take a closer look at the main active ingredients of this brand and try to look for foreign and domestic analogues of TheraFlu for colds and flu.

All the drugs presented below have a list of contraindications (including pregnancy, lactation and childhood) and side effects; use only after consulting a doctor.

What does Theraflu contain?

Before looking for equivalent drugs, let's figure out what is included in the medicines called "TeraFlu". In our pharmacies you can find several medications:

  • TeraFlu,
  • TheraFlu for colds and flu
  • TeraFlu Extra,
  • TheraFlu Extratab (see Table 1).

All of them contain paracetamol in combination with phenylephrine. Additionally, TeraFlu, TeraFlu for flu and colds and TeraFlu Extra contain pheniramine, and TeraFlu for flu and colds includes ascorbic acid (well-known vitamin C).

The company’s specialists managed to create a successful medicinal composition that quickly relieves nasal congestion, fever, headache, weakness and other “delights” of a cold. The drug combination in TheraFlu includes components that are available without a prescription, but at the same time have a good therapeutic effect on several cold symptoms at once.

Paracetamol (also known as acetaminophen) has an analgesic and antipyretic effect. It is less active compared to other analgesics, for example, ibuprofen and aspirin, but it is safer, since it does not lead to complications from the gastrointestinal tract. Its effect is to inhibit cyclooxygenase enzymes, with the help of which prostaglandins are synthesized in the body, responsible for the occurrence of the inflammatory reaction. Thus, the chain of “infection-prostaglandins-inflammation” is interrupted and inflammatory symptoms (swelling, pain, fever) are reduced. In addition, paracetamol reduces the excitability of pain centers in the brain, but does not have an narcotic effect.

Phenylephrine (also known as mesaton) is an alpha-adrenergic agonist, a substance whose action is similar to the action of the hormone norepinephrine produced in the body. It constricts blood vessels and thereby relieves nasal congestion.

Pheniramine is an antihistamine. Histamine, accumulating at the site of infection, causes pain, itching, burning and swelling. Pheniramine blocks the release of histamine, reducing sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes. In addition, it enhances the anti-inflammatory and decongestant effects of paracetamol and phenylephrine. Pheniramine has a sedative effect, so when taken at night, TheraFlu provides restful sleep that is not disturbed by cold symptoms.

TheraFlu powder for colds and flu, which is most often used at the first signs of illness, contains:

  1. 325 mg paracetamol (acetaminophen),
  2. 10 mg phenylephrine,
  3. 50 mg ascorbic acid,
  4. 20 mg pheniramine.

The excipients are a mixture of dyes (sunset and quinoline yellow), sweeteners (sucrose), stabilizers and preservatives (calcium orthophosphate and titanium dioxide). The taste and aroma of lemon in TeraFlu is provided by lemon flavoring, citric acid and its sodium salt (sodium citrate).

How to replace TheraFlu?

Medicines: Stopgripan (1), GrippoFlu (2), Maxicold (3), AntiFlu (4), Coldrex (5).

Stopgripan

Powders for drinks Stopgripan and Stopgripan Forte are produced by the Indian company (see Table 2) Ratiopharm. This is a good choice for those who are looking for a cheaper replacement for TeraFlu. The drug is similar to TheraFlu for flu and colds because it includes paracetamol, ascorbic acid, pheniramine and phenylephrine in the same quantities. The main difference between Stopgripan and its Swiss counterpart is in the excipients. Those who like the taste of blackcurrant choose Stopgripan. The composition of the coloring and aromatic composition, which provides it with a currant smell and color, naturally also differs from TeraFlu.

Stopgripan Forte contains an increased concentration of paracetamol (650 mg). In the line of drugs from Novartis, it corresponds to TheraFlu Extra, but Stopgripan is slightly different from it in that vitamin C (50 mg) is added to its composition.

GrippoFlu for colds and flu

A complete analogy in the composition of the active ingredients and their concentration allows us to say that the powder produced by Marbiopharm GrippoFlu for colds and flu is the Russian analogue of TeraFlu for colds and flu. However, unlike lemon TeraFlu, it is available in raspberry, strawberry, cranberry and currant flavors.

GrippoFlu extra, which is also in the line of drugs from Marbiofarm, contains a 2-fold increased dose of paracetamol and, like Stopgripan, contains vitamin C. Regarding the range of fruit and berry flavors, this drug is better than TeraFlu and Stopgripan . It is produced in cherry, raspberry, cranberry, lemon, strawberry and currant flavors.

Maxicold

Another analogue of TeraFlu in powder is the domestic drug Maxicold Rhino produced by Pharmstandard-Leksredstva. They have the same composition and amount of active ingredients (325 mg paracetamol, 10 mg phenylephrine, 20 mg pheniramine, 50 mg vitamin C). Maxicold Reno contains flavoring and nutritional additives, so it can brighten up dull cold days with orange, lemon and raspberry flavors.

In addition, Pharmstandard produces Maxicold in a higher dosage of paracetamol and ascorbic acid. It contains 750 mg paracetamol, 60 mg ascorbic acid and 10 mg phenylephrine, but does not include pheniramine.

AntiFlu

In our pharmacies you can find anti-cold medications from Sagmel (USA). In particular, this company produces an analogue of TeraFlu in tablets called AntiFlu. Their composition is the same, but the dosage in AntiFlu is less. If the tableted TheraFlu Extratab contains chlorpheniramine (a chemical derivative of pheniramine) 4 mg, paracetamol 650 mg and phenylephrine 10 mg, then in AntiFlu the concentration of all active ingredients is halved. In addition, AntiFlu is available in the form of a powder for drinking, and the concentrations and composition of the active ingredients in it are similar to TeraFlu Extratab.

Coldrex

Using the same principle of combining an analgesic, alpha-adrenergic agonist and vitamin C, the English company GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare created another analogue of TheraFlu - Coldrex Hotrem. Its difference from TheraFlu against flu and colds is the increased dosage of paracetamol and ascorbic acid (750 and 60 mg) and the absence of pheniramine. The drug is available in lemon and currant flavors.

Another drug from this company, Coldrex MaxGrip, deals a crushing blow to cold symptoms, because one packet of powder contains a maximum amount of paracetamol - 1000 mg. It contains less ascorbic acid (40 mg), and phenylephrine is in the usual dosage (10 mg). Considering that it is undesirable to exceed the daily dose of paracetamol (especially for people with liver disease), it should be consumed no more than 3-4 sachets per day.

This non-exhaustive list of medications is intended to help you choose a cure for ARVI or flu symptoms, but it cannot guarantee your recovery. Don’t forget: to avoid complications and get back on your feet faster, you need to be treated under the supervision of a doctor.

Theraflu, Rinza or Koldakt, which is better?

During a seasonal exacerbation of colds, the question often arises: what remedy to choose to reduce the symptoms of the disease, with high fever, aching joints and runny nose. The pharmacy chain offers a fairly wide selection of medications to combat the symptoms of ARVI. Which one should you choose: Koldakt, Rinza or Antigrippin, TeraFlu or Rinza? Let’s try to figure out how these drugs are similar and how they differ.

Rinza

Rinza is a symptomatic remedy that quickly and effectively eliminates the main symptoms of a cold. Combination medicine. The therapeutic effect is due to its constituents: paracetamol, caffeine, psycholeptic, adrenergic agonist.

Available in tablet form.

Mechanism of action

The active ingredients in the drug include:

  • Paracetamol: antipyretic, analgesic effect.
  • Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant, helps combat drowsiness and increased fatigue inherent in a painful condition, and helps maintain performance.
  • Thanks to phenylephrine, vasoconstriction occurs, which leads to a decrease in edema and inflammatory infiltration of the mucous membranes.
  • Chlorphenamine - has a powerful antihistamine effect, fights allergic manifestations: itching, sneezing, secretion of serous secretion by the glands of the upper respiratory tract.

Indications and contraindications

Rinza is prescribed for viral or bacterial respiratory diseases that occur with severe symptoms: fever, headache, muscle and joint pain that accompany a cold, and copes well with rhinitis.

Rinza should not be taken against the background of the following conditions:

  • The presence of intolerance to one of the components of the drug.
  • Severe atherosclerotic changes in blood vessels.
  • High risk of hypertension.
  • When treated with antidepressants or other medications with similar active ingredients.
  • Patients under 15 years of age.
  • Pregnant women and women during breastfeeding.
  • Suffering from alcoholism.

The use of the drug is limited against the background of liver and kidney dysfunction, and in the presence of endocrine diseases.

Side effects and special instructions

While using the drug, the following may occur:

  • Allergic manifestations in the form of rash, urticaria, Quincke's edema.
  • Heart rhythm disturbances.
  • Exciting effect, sleep disturbance.
  • Inhibition of hematopoiesis, manifested by a decrease in the level of red blood cells, leukocytes, and platelets.
  • Impaired bronchial obstruction, bronchospasm.
Caution is necessary when prescribing Rinza to patients with severe concomitant pathology that requires constant use of medications: antihypertensives, antidepressants, and some antibacterial agents.

While taking the medication, it is prohibited to consume alcoholic beverages, sedatives, or medications that promote sleep.

The drug helps reduce concentration.

It is not recommended to take the drug for more than five days.

Coldact

This is also a combination drug used to treat the symptoms of flu and colds. Koldakt contains:

Unlike Rinza, it does not contain substances with psycholeptic properties.

Available in two dosage forms: suspension and capsules.

Koldakt is a long-acting drug. The effect of taking it lasts up to 12 hours.

Mechanism of action

It has a mechanism of action similar to Rinza, helps to improve well-being, effectively reducing elevated body temperature, reducing the manifestations of pain characteristic of colds, and helps cope with a runny nose and swelling of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract.

Indications and contraindications

Koldakt is a drug for the symptomatic treatment of respiratory infections, influenza.

It is strictly forbidden to take the drug in the presence of allergic reactions to the components included in its composition, the presence of severe pathology of the liver, kidneys, manifested by insufficiency of the functions of these organs, with severe endocrine disorders of the pancreas and thyroid gland. Koldakt is contraindicated in pregnant and breastfeeding women. The suspension is not recommended for use in children under 6 years of age.

It can cause the same side effects and has the same limitations as the drug described above.

TeraFlu

Combined drug for the symptomatic treatment of colds. Available in the form of a soluble powder. It is somewhat different in composition from the drugs we discussed above: it contains a lower dosage of paracetamol, and pheniramine, phenylephrine and ascorbic acid as an anti-allergenic component.

It does not differ in indications for use - it is used for colds and flu to combat the main symptoms of the disease, it has similar contraindications, side effects and limitations of use.

Long-term uncontrolled use is dangerous for the development of acute renal failure.

Antigrippin

Another name for a drug prescribed for ailments caused by respiratory infections. A multicomponent drug in which the main active ingredients are: paracetamol, chlorphenamine, and contains ascorbic acid. Available in the form of soluble tablets or powders.

Due to the almost identical composition with the drugs described above, it has the same side reactions, contraindications, and restrictions when taking the medication.

What to choose?

After conducting a comparative analysis of the presented medicines, it is impossible to answer the question of which is better than Rinza or TeraFlu, Koldakt or Antigrippin. All of them have an almost identical composition: they are made on the basis of paracetamol as an antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic agent, contain an antihistamine component, and have the same points of application for colds. They have an identical mechanism of action. Having an almost identical composition, the list of contraindications is the same for all listed drugs. They differ, perhaps, only in the price category.

Remember: when choosing a medicine, Antigrippin, Rinza or TheraFlu, it is better to first consult with your doctor.
