The active substance is decamethoxin.
This substance has antiseptic properties and belongs to surfactants (detergents).
The product is supplied to pharmacies as a 0.2% solution of decamethoxin in saline (0.9% aqueous solution of NaCl), packaged in containers of 50, 100, 400 mg and nebulas of 2 mg for inhalation with a nebulizer.
Decamethoxin exhibits activity:
- antifungal – yeast-like fungi (candida), molds, pathogens of microsporia;
- bactericidal, bacteriostatic – streptococci, staphylococci, diphtheria pathogens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa;
- protistocidal - the simplest unicellular organisms, which include amoeba, plasmodia, ciliates, lamblia;
- antiviral - viruses that are not sensitive to decamethoxin have not been identified.
Resistance of microorganisms to decamethoxin develops very slowly when used at the recommended dosage.
The effect of the drug is determined by the ability of its active component to damage the cell membrane of the pathogen, causing the death of the parasitic cell.
Decamethoxin is not concentrated on human cell membranes, which determines its activity against infection.
In addition to antimicrobial activity, decamethoxin exhibits anti-inflammatory properties. Its active component, decamethoxin, acts as an antispasmodic, reducing the likelihood of swelling of the mucous membranes of the ENT organs and bronchi.
Indications
Local antiseptic Decasan is widely used in medical practice for the treatment of diseases of the oral cavity, skin, genitourinary system, and for the treatment of wounds in surgical practice. This product is used to treat medical instruments before sterilization.

Dekasan for inhalation with a nebulizer
Decasan is a medicine characterized by an antiseptic effect. Has a wide range of applications. In medical practice, the medicine has gained wide demand for the sanitation of the birth canal and surgical equipment, as well as diseases of the respiratory tract, the development of which was influenced by infection and fungi.
Indications
The drug is based on an active substance called detamethoxin. Its action is based on the elimination of the intercellular membrane of all pathogenic microorganisms. As a result, they lose their ability to reproduce and slowly die.
Spraying the drug using a nebulizer allows its microparticles to capture the entire mucous membrane of the respiratory tract, removing all microorganisms from its surface. The effectiveness of this treatment option is quite high.
This allows the drug in question to be used in the treatment of the following types of pathologies:

How to divorce
Before you start taking any action regarding taking Decasan, you must carefully read the instructions. But here it all depends on the format in which the drug was purchased. If these are capsules for a nebulizer, then no special steps need to be taken to dilute the medicine, since it is already ready for use.

If you buy Dekasan in its pure form, then to obtain a medicinal solution you need to dilute the product with saline solution. If the medicine is to be used by an adult, then the ratio between Decasan and saline solution will be 1:1. But for children this proportion will be 1:2.
But in this case, you need to understand that the formula in question is quite approximate, because the concentration of the main substance may differ in different packages. So it would be most correct if the ratio of the drugs in question is chosen by the attending physician.
How to use for children and adults
The medicinal solution Decasan today is very popular in medical practice for disinfecting organs from the negative effects of pathogenic microorganisms.
Since the drug has no side effects, it can be used in the treatment of pathologies of the respiratory tract and sweat cavity in young patients. If it is necessary to treat stomatitis, sore throat and tonsillitis, then the solution should be used as a gargle.
If an operation was performed in the nasal cavity, adenoids were removed or the nasal septum was corrected, then it is worth irrigating the nasal passages with a solution. But before this, you need to dilute the product in equal quantities with sodium chloride.
If there is bacterial bronchitis and other infections of the pulmonary tree, as well as sinusitis and a persistent runny nose, then an inhalation solution is used. A nebulizer can help with this. Due to the fact that the solution will be introduced by spraying, all its particles will be able to penetrate deeply into accessible places. This use of the drug is very convenient for children, who can sit and watch cartoons at the time of the manipulation.
Dekasan for inhalation is presented in 2 ml capsule format. This dosage is considered very beneficial and convenient for one-time use by children. For long-term use, it is better to buy Decasan solution in containers of 50, 100 and 200 ml.
Inhalations using a nebulizer can be performed on patients under 12 years of age. Do them once a day for diseases of the upper respiratory tract; if the child is over 12 years old or is an adult patient, then the number of procedures increases to 2 per day.
If the drug is to be used for adults, then combine the solution with saline in equal proportions. One manipulation should take 5-10 ml. Moreover, it is necessary to make the solution in a volume that will be sufficient for one inhalation, since the remaining product is no longer suitable for reuse. The duration of therapy will be 7-10 days. If necessary, the dosage can be increased.

- Irina, 34 years old: “With the help of Decasan solution, I was able to cure a cough due to bronchitis. It was dry and painful for me. He strangled me especially hard in the mornings and at night. The doctor prescribed this drug to me in combination with other medications. But it was after the inhalations that I felt relief already on the 3rd day. The cough began to turn into a wet cough with sputum discharge. The full treatment took me only 7 days, and then my condition improved.”
- Andrey, 36 years old: “We used Decasan solution to treat rhinitis in a child. The fact is that he often develops this disease due to a deviated septum. So as soon as my son’s nose starts to clog, I carry a nebulizer and the medicine. It’s enough to perform one procedure a day to see relief within a couple of months.”
- Anna, 38 years old: “In our family, Dekasan is considered one of the most popular medicines. It is always in our first aid kit. The fact is that this is a universal remedy for the treatment of runny nose and cough. It can also be used by both adults and children. For example, I used it to treat a cough that I had due to the flu. I suffered quite a lot with him; I couldn’t sleep, eat, or work fully. When I went to the doctor, he prescribed inhalations with Decasan. I did only 10 procedures once a day, after which my condition improved and the cough disappeared.”
Decasan is a unique drug that effectively treats diseases of the upper respiratory tract in children and adults. Noticeable relief occurs after just a few procedures, which indicates the high effectiveness of the drug. In addition, it does not cause any side effects at all, so it is completely safe for children.

Dekasan for inhalation with a nebulizer
Decasan is an affordable and, most importantly, effective antimicrobial, antifungal and antiviral drug. How to dilute Decasan for inhalation for children and adults? How many times a day should I use the drug? We will try to give the most detailed answers to these and many other questions later in this article.
Instructions for use of the solution
The method of using Decasan for inhalation for children according to the instructions involves, first of all, carefully studying the instructions for the drug. The packaging of Decasan for inhalation indicates the concentration of the active substance and the composition of the drug. Today, the product is available in 2 ml nebulas, that is, in the form of ready-made capsules for the nebulizer.
The standard form of the drug is a clear solution that can be applied externally or by inhalation. The drug is diluted with saline solution. The exact proportions can only be prescribed by the attending physician, based on information about the characteristics and form of the disease, its severity and the patient’s age.
- The conventional inhalation scheme involves 1-3 procedures per day.
- The maximum daily dose of the drug for inhalation should not exceed 20 ml.
- How many days do inhalations take? The duration of the course of treatment is 5-7 days, but it is better to check with your doctor. Typically, the drug is used until the symptoms of the disease are alleviated.
The dosage of the drug for inhalation with a nebulizer for children and adults is different, therefore, to clarify the treatment regimen, consultation with a specialist is required. On the first day of therapy, it is recommended to do one procedure. If no improvement is observed, intensive therapy can be carried out, increasing the number of inhalations to 3 per day.
The drug is practically not absorbed into the blood, so the risk of overdose is reduced to zero. The product is approved for use by children over the age of one year. The degree of influence of the drug on the condition of the fetus during pregnancy has not been fully studied, but the drug is allowed to be used during lactation. Pregnant women can only take inhalations with the permission of a doctor.
Indications
Detamethoxin is the main active component of the drug, which promotes the destruction of the intercellular membrane of almost all gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria. As a result of the action of the drug, viruses and bacteria lose their ability to develop and gradually die.
The use of a nebulizer for inhalation provides microparticles of the drug with the opportunity to cover almost the entire area of the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract, which confirms the highest efficiency of this method of using the drug. Thus, inhalations using the drug in question are indicated for:
- rhinitis;
- sinusitis;
- laryngitis;
- sore throat;
- tonsillitis;
- tracheobronchitis;
- tracheitis;
- bronchitis, various types of infections with microorganisms - streptococci, staphylococci and others.
Contraindications
The inhalation solution is a medication that has certain contraindications for use. Among these it is worth highlighting:
- individual hypersensitivity to the active component of the drug;
- acquired or hereditary form of intolerance to the constituent components of the drug.
Otherwise, Dekasan is a completely safe and harmless medicine that has a gentle, but most effective effect on the cause of the disease. Among the analogues in Russia are such drugs as Aurisan, Conjunctin, Decamethoxin, Oftadek, Berodual (in Latin Berodual) and others.
Side effects
In rare cases, the drug can provoke the development of unpleasant side effects. For example, when using the composition externally, allergic manifestations may occur on the skin - hives or redness in the areas treated with the drug. A similar reaction occurs in patients with individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
During the treatment of chronic bronchitis and purulent bronchiectasis by inhalation, there is a possibility of developing a burning sensation in the chest area and a rush of heat. Literally 30 seconds after the procedure, all symptoms disappear without a trace.
How to dilute Decasan and do inhalations?
The nebulizer solution for inhalation must be prepared strictly according to the instructions. Unlike ready-made Dexane in nebulas, the drug in its standard form requires dilution. The dose prescribed by the attending physician is added to the saline solution, bringing the finished product to the required volume. Residues of the drug cannot be reused.
Inhalations using the drug in question help to cope with the majority of gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms, which are the causative agents of many different diseases. Doctors recommend Dekasan for a runny nose and cough, as well as other symptoms of colds. Mix the solution in the required proportion, then breathe over the steam for several minutes.
For children
Decasan instructions for inhalation for children indicate that the product is acceptable for use by infants from 2 years of age. For the treatment of children under 12 years of age, the drug is recommended to be used in a diluted form. The drug is diluted in saline in a ratio of 1:1. For one inhalation procedure, 0.2 mg/ml is sufficient. For regular inhalations, prepare the following proportion of solution: 2 ml of product and 2 ml of saline solution. It is recommended to repeat the procedure 1-2 times a day.
For adults
For adult patients and children over 12 years of age, the drug for inhalation with a nebulizer does not need to be diluted with saline solution.
- It is recommended to use a solution of 0.2 mg/ml, 5-10 ml per inhalation.
- The procedure is indicated to be carried out 1-2 times a day.
How long can Decasan be stored after opening the bottle? Unless otherwise specified in the instructions, then until the expiration date of the medicine indicated on the bottle.
Reviews
Alena, 25 years old: Doing inhalations with Dekasan at home is very simple. Just read the instructions carefully and mix all the ingredients of the drug in the required proportions. The doctor prescribed this medicine to me when I had a severe runny nose and sore throat. All symptoms disappeared within two days. Now I recommend it to everyone I know. An effective and completely harmless remedy against colds.
Evgeniy, 35 years old: An excellent remedy for colds - we tested it on the whole family. First the children caught a cold, and the youngest even caught sinusitis. The composition is very easy to prepare, and inhalation is not at all difficult; I could easily cope with the kids without my wife. Then this remedy saved us from the virus - we were already starting to sneeze, but inhalations with Decasan did not allow us to defeat the disease.
Arina, 28 years old: My son is 5 years old. We get colds and coughs quite often.
Our local pediatrician advised me to purchase a nebulizer with Decasan at the pharmacy. After using hormonal drugs, the effect really impressed me. The child breathes freely, and the cough is heard less and less often. I was very pleased with this medicine.

Dekasan for nebulizer: instructions. Reviews, dosages for children and adults
Decasan for inhalation in the form of a solution is most in demand in the treatment of pathological processes in the upper respiratory tract.
And it is very popular among the most common and effective antiseptics.
In medicine, it is used for processing surgical instruments during operations, during childbirth, in the treatment of pustular skin lesions, and infectious diseases of the respiratory system.
Its use is indicated for both adults and children. The effectiveness of the drug increases if it is heated to a temperature of C before use. Let's look at what this medicine is used for and how Decasan is diluted for inhalation.
Description of the drug. Principle of action and medicinal properties
The drug actively eliminates infections and fungi, and other harmful microorganisms, without being absorbed into the blood and without disturbing the natural microflora of the body.
Has antibacterial, antiviral, furicidal effects. The mechanism of action of the product is its rapid penetration into harmful microorganisms with their further destruction from the inside. The medicine also prevents the further proliferation of pathogenic microbes, completely suppressing their activity.
Contact of the active ingredient of the product with harmful microbes leads to their complete elimination and the inability to penetrate other human tissues.
Release form and price range
The product is available in two forms: bottles of 100, 200 or 400 mg or nebulas of 2 mg intended for the procedure.
The release form of Dekasan nebula is convenient for use with a nebulizer. The price range varies from 50 to 200 hryvnia in Ukraine and from 100 to 350 rubles in Russia. The price depends on the volume of the solution and the form of release of the product.
Indications for use of Decasan for inhalation
Given the wide range of applications of the drug, we should primarily highlight its use in the treatment of inflammation and other pathological processes of the respiratory system. Indications for use include:
- acute and chronic runny nose;
- sinus inflammation;
- inflammation of the tonsils;
- acute and chronic bronchitis;
- throat diseases caused by staphylococcal or streptococcal infections;
- inflammation of the larynx as an independent disease or complication after infectious diseases;
- inflammation or polycystic lung disease.
The use of the drug at the initial stage of the acute form of the disease does not allow the pathological process to develop into chronic forms.
Contraindications and possible side effects
One of the main advantages of the drug is the almost complete absence of contraindications. The only reason to discontinue the drug will be its individual intolerance by the patient.
When used externally, allergic reactions of the skin may occur, such as rashes, redness, irritation, and symptoms of urticaria. After discontinuation of the drug, such negative phenomena disappear without treatment.
When used, side effects such as a feeling of heat and burning in the chest area sometimes occur. These symptoms also do not require treatment and disappear quickly after stopping use of the drug.
Inhalations with Decasan: how to do and how to dilute?
Before inhaling Decasan through a nebulizer, you must carefully study the instructions that are in the package along with the drug. It provides complete information about the features of the drug and describes the method of use.
Compliance with the instructions must be taken with full responsibility. Improper use of the medication can aggravate the course of the disease and lead to unpredictable consequences.
How to do inhalations with Decasan? It depends on the release form. The purchased drug in nebulas does not require additional manipulations or preparation of the solution. The drug in its pure form must be diluted before use.
The best way to prepare an inhalation solution is saline solution. The proportions vary depending on the age of the patient.
For an adult, the dosage is 1:1 (1 part of the medicine and the same part of saline). These are standard numbers for preparing the product. The final decision is made by the doctor, taking into account the characteristics of the disease and the patient’s condition.
Treatment with Decasan should begin gradually. On the first day, one procedure is enough, after which the patient’s reaction is observed. In the absence of allergic manifestations, the number of manipulations is increased to three per day.
If the drug was used undiluted for inhalation through a nebulizer, after the procedure you may experience an unpleasant taste in the mouth, which is absolutely harmless. It can be easily eliminated by rinsing your mouth with a small amount of boiled water.
It is not recommended to eat or drink drinks within minutes after the procedure.
The answer to the question of how many days you can do inhalations is ambiguous. The usual treatment course is from 5 to 12 days. If the patient does not experience significant improvements, the doctor should be informed to adjust further treatment.
Dekasan: instructions for inhalation for children. Dosage
The medicine can be used for children with diseases of the oral cavity, tonsillitis, adenoiditis. The effectiveness of the application will be much higher if treatment is started at the first signs of an infectious disease, preventing it from developing into a chronic protracted form.
Up to 12 years of age, the ratio of Decasan and saline solution for its dilution is 1:2. A child over 12 years of age can be prescribed dosages intended for adults, but with mandatory monitoring of his condition during manipulation.
The best treatment method is to inhale Decasan to the child using a nebulizer. In this case, the product reaches the affected organs by spraying, which allows it to penetrate deep into hard-to-reach places.
Decasan for inhalation is convenient for children because it can be used at home. During the manipulation, the child can be distracted by reading books or watching children's programs.
The recommended duration of treatment is 7-10 days. The number of daily procedures can vary from one to two. If the drug is well tolerated and the child is over 5 years old, the number of procedures performed can be increased to three per day.
Decasan for sore throat: how to use?
According to the instructions for use for the nebulizer, it can be effectively used to treat tonsillitis and its acute form, as well as sore throat.
Such inflammations lead to loosening of the palatine tonsils and the appearance of irregularities on their surface. This causes the accumulation of pathogenic microorganisms in hard-to-reach places.
The use of a nebulizer is also preferable because there is virtually no risk of burning delicate mucous membranes with hot steam.
The procedures can be performed on both adults and children, while observing the recommended dosages and other instructions of the attending physician.
For laryngitis
Inhalation is one of the most effective methods of local therapy for laryngitis. They relieve pain, irritation, hoarseness, and prevent the development of complications - bronchial asthma, inflammation of the trachea.
The procedures are indicated for all forms of this disease. Although procedures using a nebulizer are more effective than conventional steam inhalations, there are a number of contraindications to their use for laryngitis:
- increased body temperature;
- tendency to nosebleeds;
- pathologies of the cardiovascular system;
- bronchial asthma;
- children up to one year of age.
For bronchitis, dry cough, and also complicated by the discharge of pus, adult patients are prescribed Decasan undiluted. When a child has a cough, dilution of the drug with saline in normal proportions is indicated. The duration of the manipulations is approximately 5 minutes, the course of treatment is 5-7 days.
They also have an immunomodulating effect, increasing the body's resistance to various viruses and bacteria. For children, inhalations for pharyngitis are prescribed by a doctor.
Dekasan for a runny nose
The drug is recommended at the first signs of poor health and nasal congestion. The use of this medicine for the common cold in the first days of illness prevents the further spread of pathogenic microorganisms.
Is it necessary to dilute Dekasan for inhalation with rhinitis with saline solution? Yes, for adults they use a 1:1 ratio, and for children - 1:2 (drug + saline solution). Timely administration of the drug to a child will speed up his recovery and increase immunity.
During pregnancy
The drug does not have negative consequences for the development of the child in the womb, since it does not enter the bloodstream. Pregnant women are absolutely recommended for procedures for purulent bronchitis or sore throat.
For pregnant women - the optimal solution for effective and safe treatment and an alternative to the use of antibiotics. The drug is also approved during breastfeeding, since its components do not pass into mother’s milk.

Chlorophyllipt

Reviews
Decasan is a multifunctional product. We purchased it for inhalation procedures. When someone from our family gets sick, we do inhalation for preventive purposes. It can be used by both adults and children.
Sold in a glass bottle, it is inexpensive. I didn't find any shortcomings. Helps everyone in different ways. My daughters immediately see the effect. Around the third day, my cough or throat starts to go away. But our dad takes the longest to be treated. About five days. Ekaterina, 43 years old
My seven month old daughter recently had bronchitis. The doctor prescribed a course of inhalation 3-4 times a day. It is difficult for a small child to do such procedures, but there was no other choice, and we went to the pharmacy to get an inhaler. We were given several inhalation solutions to choose from. I took the first one from the written list - Dekasan.
On the second day of therapy, my happiness knew no bounds when I noticed that the girl’s wheezing had become much less. A couple more days and I practically didn’t hear them at all. We were prescribed a seven-day course, but everything was over in five days! I was satisfied. We still have the solution left. It can be used for rinsing the mouth, throat and for many other purposes. Therefore, the drug will not remain idle for a long time and will still be useful to us. Evgeniya, 32 years old
Dekasan was recommended to me by my mother. She herself used it for dry coughs, and when she found out that her grandson was sick, she lent us the solution in capsules. The dosage we needed was as follows: 2 ml of saline solution and 1 ml of medicine. I did it to my son 5 times a day for five minutes.
Seven days have passed, the cough has not completely gone away. But the wheezing has almost disappeared. The pediatrician canceled the inhalation because this method cannot be treated for a long time. And we were additionally prescribed cough syrup. We were treated for another week. Thus, my impressions remained mixed. The child showed improvement. However, additional therapy was required. Igor, 29 years old
Our daughter had stomatitis. This drug saved us. We bought it in glass containers, but they also come in capsules. We purchased a nebulizer long before the illness. The doctor prescribed us to do it three times a day plus rinse with an antiviral drug.
The disease left us after three days. My friends told me that stomatitis was treated with other medications, without inhalation procedures. So their treatment lasted two weeks. Carrying out inhalations with a nebulizer with Decasan
Decasan is an antiseptic drug used during the sanitation of the birth canal and surgical instruments. The product is also used for pathologies of the respiratory system that arise after the penetration of infection or fungi. In this case, dekasan is prescribed for inhalation with a nebulizer.
Before using the drug for inhalation with a nebulizer for adults and children, you should familiarize yourself with the permitted dosages of the medicinal composition. Prescriptions of manipulations with recommendations for choosing a drug should be carried out by the attending physician.
What properties does the drug have?
Decasan for inhalation has an active component - decamethoxin, which has antiseptic properties. Another name for the drug Decasan for inhalation is decamethaxin solution. The basis for the medicinal solution is saline solution. There are two forms of the drug for inhalation on sale:
By inhaling Decasan it is possible to eliminate:
- yeast-like fungi, molds, microsporia;
- bacteria of streptococci, staphylococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, diphtheria;
- viruses.
Important! After a course of inhalation with Decasan, not a single virus survives. Microorganisms are not resistant to this drug.
This destructive effect of harmful flora is due to the fact that the active component of the medicinal composition damages the cell membranes of microorganisms, which leads to their death.
Cell membranes in the human body are not affected by Decametaxin; the drug is activated only against infectious agents.
In addition to antimicrobial effects, Decasan has anti-inflammatory effectiveness. Its active component manifests itself as an antispasmodic, reducing swelling of the mucous membrane of the respiratory organs and larynx. For the purpose of therapeutic therapy, you need to know how to make a solution for an inhalation session.
Dilution of Dekasan for inhalation sessions for children
Based on the instructions attached to Dekasan, inhalations for children require special attention. The most important aspect is the fact in what form the drug was purchased.
- The capsule form does not require any special recommendations, it is already prepared for use.
- The medicine in its pure form, when using Decasan for inhalation, should be diluted with saline solution, based on the instructions for use attached to the medicine.
- For adult patients, it is recommended to dilute the medicinal composition 1 to 1 with saline solution.
- The dosage for children varies, as it is prescribed by the attending physician, the average dose is 1 to 2.
Important! In order not to guess what dosage is needed at a given age, you need to seek help from a specialized doctor.
Who is the drug indicated for?
The use of a local antiseptic is most often noted in therapy to eliminate diseases:
Surgeons use this product to process instruments before sending them for sterilization.
ENT doctors use the composition externally for rinsing, washing, and inhaling with Decasan during the treatment of suppuration processes accompanied by purulent rejections, namely:
Inhalations with Decasan are carried out for the following diseases of the bronchopulmonary system:
- bronchiectasis - expansion of areas in the bronchi with accumulation of pus;
- cystic pulmonary hypoplasia;
- pneumonia;
- pleurisy;
- acute, purulent, chronic bronchitis;
- carrying an infection.
The drug Dekasan is a broad-spectrum medicine.
Therapy of respiratory diseases
Who should not use the medicinal composition
Contraindications to the drug include personal intolerance. Inhalations with Decasan have no side effects.
How is the solution used?
Inhalation procedures with Decasan are carried out with a nebulizer, using nebulas or a solution. Patients noted that nebulas are overpriced; every patient can afford to purchase a solution at the pharmacy. For example, the price for 10 pieces of nebula (2 ml each) is equal to the price of 100 ml of solution.
How to treat the throat and bronchi with inhalations
Inhalation use of Decasan is recommended using a nebulizer according to the instructions. The device is used for both children and adult patients. The method of using the inhaler is specified in the instructions for using the device. Inhalations are carried out as prescribed by a doctor.
Sore throat, bronchitis, cough with thick discharge are treated with a pure, undiluted solution of Decasan. The children's medicinal composition is diluted with saline solution.
- children under 12 years old - 1 nebula with 2 ml of saline solution, 1-2 sessions per day are allowed;
- adults and children over 12 years old - nebulas (2 pcs.) without saline solution, 3 inhalation sessions per day are allowed.
The course of therapeutic therapy is 5-7 days, each session lasts 5-10 minutes.
- children under 12 years old - Dekasan (2 ml), saline solution (2 ml);
- adults and children over 12 years of age - take 5-10 ml of pure composition per application, without dilution.
For the treatment of adults, Decasan can be used undiluted.
How is medicine used to treat a runny nose?
Decasan is very often used in the treatment of runny nose. The medicine is used to rinse the nasal cavities in the treatment of sinusitis, ethmoiditis, and adenoids. The medicinal composition is used in inhalation procedures using a nebulizer. The drug is diluted with saline solution 1 to 1. Decasan (2 ml), saline solution (2 ml). If the runny nose is of a normal nature, without visible discharge of pus, then the drug is not used.
Inhalations for pregnant women
Pregnant women, if necessary, can use inhalation therapy using Decasan. The local anesthetic drug is not prohibited by doctors for the treatment of pregnant women and nursing mothers. Inhalations are recommended to be carried out using a nebulizer device. The medicinal composition does not penetrate into the plasma, and also does not affect intrauterine development. With the help of the medicine you can quickly cope with sore throat, bronchitis, and sputum containing pus.
Pregnancy is not a reason to refuse Decasan inhalation
special instructions
Since the medication for local use actively binds to the tissues of the epidermis, its compatibility with soap, detergents, and hygiene products is not compatible.
Decasan has one feature: it actively affects the hypersensitivity of fungi, infections and bacteria in relation to antibiotics and antibacterial medications, as well as to resistant strains.
If a patient is diagnosed with purulent sinusitis, tonsillitis, tonsillitis or bronchitis, then conducting inhalation sessions with this drug allows you to take a lower dosage of antibiotics.
Carrying out therapeutic therapy with Decasan using a nebulizer has a number of positive therapeutic effectiveness, which does not affect the health of other organs and systems of the human body. This makes it possible for patients to use the medication for medicinal purposes from a very early age.
Despite the complete safety of the medicinal composition, self-medication is strictly prohibited; if disturbing symptoms appear against the background of a cold, virus or flu, you should visit a medical facility. Only a doctor can prescribe a therapeutic treatment regimen taking into account the patient’s age, weight, individual characteristics and severity of the inflammatory process. If an allergic reaction occurs after starting inhalation treatment with Decasan, you must stop further procedures and seek help from your doctor, who will adjust further therapy.

Dekasan
Description current as of 09/24/2014
- Latin name: Decasan
- ATX code: D08AJ10
- Active ingredient: Decametoxin
- Manufacturer: “Yuria-Pharm”, Kiev, Ukraine
Compound
1 ml of medicinal solution contains:
Release form
In pharmacy kiosks, the pharmaceutical drug can be found in the form of a clear solution, which is packaged in bottles of 50 ml, 100 ml, 200 ml, 400 ml, in containers (packages) of 50 ml, 100 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml and 1000 ml or in nebulas for nebulizer, 2 ml each.
pharmachologic effect
Decasan is a drug classified as an antiseptic drug with therapeutic properties such as fungicidal, protocidal and viruscidal, that is, the active components are able to suppress contamination by fungi, protozoa and even viruses. The bactericidal effect on most gram-negative and gram-positive microflora has been studied and clinically confirmed. In particular they are affected:
- staphylococci;
- streptococci;
- pathogens of diphtheria;
- microorganisms that cause Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection;
- epidermophytes;
- trichophytes;
- yeast and yeast-like fungi;
- erythrasmas;
- mold fungi;
- Giardia;
- Trichomonas.
The mechanism of pharmaceutical action of the drug is based on the ability of Decamethoxin, the main component, to disrupt the permeability of the target cell membrane, which consists of a bilipid layer. The drug binds to fat-like organic structures in the region of phosphatidic groups. Thus, the homeostatic parameters of the internal environment of the cell change and its lysis, that is, destruction, occurs. A positive feature of the drug is the selectivity of its therapeutic action, which is manifested in the inability to concentrate on the cells of the human body.
Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics
The drug is used externally and is practically not absorbed by intact skin and mucous membrane. The open wound surface is also indifferent to the effects of biologically active components of the antiseptic.
Indications for use
- skin diseases (pustular, bacterial and fungal, microbial eczema);
- purulent-inflammatory nosological units that spread to the skin and subcutaneous tissue in the gaping or draining stage (for example, boils and carbuncles, panaritium and infected wounds, phlegmon and abscess);
- inflammatory pathologies of the oral cavity (gingivitis, stomatitis, periodontitis, etc.);
- in surgical practice for irrigation of the pleural or abdominal cavity, wound surfaces with a large area;
- diseases of the respiratory system and upper respiratory tract of inflammatory origin (bronchiectasis with suppuration, tonsillitis, abscess cystic hypoplasia of the lungs, chronic laryngopharyngitis, chronic bronchitis in the acute stage, bacterial carriage, and so on);
- pre-sterilization treatment of medical instruments;
- pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract (as a rule, a pharmaceutical drug is used for inflammatory lesions of the large intestine, for example, sigmoiditis, proctitis, ulcerative colitis);
- disinfection of gloves and hands of medical personnel before manipulations requiring aseptic conditions;
- diseases of the genitourinary system (urethritis, vaginitis, balanoitis, endometritis, prostatitis);
- treatment of the birth canal immediately before childbirth.
Contraindications
- individual hypersensitivity to the active substance;
- hereditary or acquired intolerance to the constituent components of a pharmaceutical drug.
Side effects
- allergic skin reactions - urticaria, redness;
- a feeling of heat and burning behind the sternum with the endobronchial route of administration.
Instructions for Dekasan (Method and dosage)
How to use the solution
The pharmaceutical drug is used in different areas of medicine, and accordingly, the approaches to preparing lotions or rinsing are completely different. So in urological practice, the drug must first be diluted with clean water in a ratio of 1:7, based on the course of conservative treatment of chronic pathologies of the genitourinary system. The dosage is 600 ml of active liquid for 20 washes.
For diseases of the large intestine or prostatitis, the pharmaceutical solution is administered through an enema 2 times a day, 100 ml. The liquid should first be heated to the physiological temperature of the human body. Such measures will contribute to a more complete delivery of therapeutic effects on the affected mucous membrane. The duration of treatment for enteral diseases is not limited; as a rule, sanitation continues until the intestinal symptoms completely disappear, that is, until the exacerbation of the pathological process is eliminated.
In gynecology, Decasan is administered by douching, but first the medicine should be heated to 38 degrees Celsius. The dosage for bacterial, fungal or trichomonas vaginitis is about 100 ml 3 times a day. The future birth canal of a pregnant woman is treated with the same amount of medicinal liquid immediately before the process of obstetrics. In postpartum care, to eliminate the problem of endometritis, rinsing the uterus with Decasan in a volume of up to 200 ml 2 times a day is used.
Treatment of various oral diseases
Periodontal disease in the acute stage - 100 ml of the drug is first heated, and then the gum pockets are treated with a special irrigator. Also, this pathology can be treated with applications to the affected areas and areas of the dystrophic-inflammatory process.
Fungal diseases of the palatine tonsils, asymptomatic carriage of harmful microflora or chronic tonsillitis - the lacunae of the palatine tonsils and pharynx are thoroughly washed and rinsed using 1 wash with 100 ml of the active pharmaceutical drug. During such treatment, gargling is also recommended, since this is a favorite place for pathogenic microorganisms.
Endobronchial use of Decasan
In the presence of pathological abnormalities in the respiratory system, a pharmaceutical solution is applied directly to the mucous membrane of the bronchial tree and lungs. Dosage for diseases of the respiratory tract depends on the method of drug delivery:
- microtracheostomal – up to 50 ml 2 times a day;
- tracheobronchial lavage – up to 100 ml;
- transnasally, using a catheter - up to 10 ml once a day;
- ultrasonic inhalation – up to 10 ml 1-2 times a day.
The use of such routes of drug administration for a child is also justified, since the therapeutic effect of the pharmaceutical drug increases several times with endobronchial use. Accordingly, such sanitation eliminates the possible adverse consequences of diseases of the respiratory system for a young, growing organism.
Nebula Dekasan, instructions for use
A nebulizer is a modern device that is used for inhalation of medications during hospital or home therapy. The name of the technical device comes from Latin (“nebula” means “fog” or “haze”). In this device, the pharmaceutical agent is transformed into a fine cloud, which, during the active phase of breathing, enters the bronchial tree and lungs, thus exerting a therapeutic effect.
Nebulizer dosage:
- children over 12 years of age and adults - there is no need to dilute the drug, inhalation is carried out with a solution of 5-10 ml 1-2 times a day;
- instructions for children under 12 years of age require dilution in saline in a ratio of 1:1 (for one inhalation, 2 ml of Decasan and 2 ml of solvent are mixed), manipulation is carried out 1-2 times a day, depending on the stage of the disease.
Overdose
The drug practically does not enter the main or regional bloodstream, since intact skin and mucous membranes prevent this. Clinical studies did not detect Decasan in the blood or when applied to an open wound surface. There are no reliable cases of overdose of a pharmaceutical solution described in the medical literature.
Interaction
The main active component has cationic surface active properties, which partly determines its therapeutic effect, and therefore is not compatible with pharmaceuticals that exhibit anionic activity (for example, soap).
A non-drug interaction is an increase in the sensitivity of resistant strains of microorganisms to various types of antibiotics, which implies abundant use of the drug in surgical practice.
Terms of sale
Available without a prescription.
Storage conditions
The solution for inhalation or external use should be stored out of the reach of young children, protected from direct sunlight at a constant temperature of 18 to 25 degrees.
Best before date
special instructions
The drug does not affect the speed of psychomotor reactions or the ability to concentrate for a long time, therefore, during the course of conservative treatment, you can safely drive vehicles or other complex mechanisms independently.
For children
Decasan for nebulizer is actively used in pediatric practice, since it is the optimal form of spraying a pharmaceutical drug for the gentle elimination of pathologies of the respiratory tract, because the mucous membrane is not yet fully developed during certain periods of growing up (this method of administration allows you to get rid of some possible adverse effects of therapy). It is also much more convenient for children to use Dekasan for a nebulizer than nasal drops or any other methods of delivering the active components of the drug to the affected layers of the bronchial tree, because it is quite difficult to sit a small child in one position for a long time and correctly insert a catheter into the child’s nose, for example.
In turn, during inhalation with a nebulizer, children can maintain a moderate level of activity. It is also possible to watch cartoons or read books, because the mask of the device is practically not felt on the face after the first inhalation.
Decasan for inhalation for children, of course, should be diluted somewhat stronger than for adult patients. As a rule, half dosages of the drug are used, but for precise instructions you should additionally consult a qualified pediatrician.
With alcohol
The pharmaceutical drug is used for local use, and therefore practically does not enter the regional or main bloodstream, however, drinking alcohol can lead to an increase in the duration of the course of conservative therapy or to other adverse consequences during complete treatment of a particular pathology.
During pregnancy (and lactation)
There is no additional information on the use of the drug during pregnancy or lactation in the medical literature.
Reviews
As a rule, patients who have undergone a course of conservative treatment with this pharmaceutical drug leave positive reviews on thematic forums. It is interesting that information about the medicine and reports on the completion of appropriate therapy can be found in various fields of medicine, because Decasan enjoys a good reputation in gynecology, surgery, urology, internal medicine and pediatrics.
Separately, it should be noted reviews related to the elimination of respiratory nosological entities using this pharmaceutical drug. Of course, most grateful patients advocate for the nebulizer form of the medicine, because in this way the course of conservative sanitation becomes much more convenient and takes less time. The period of manipulation itself is also characterized on the positive side; patients can calmly work at the computer or engage in other extraneous activities.
Dekasan price, where to buy
The price of Dekasan in the Russian Federation fluctuates around 80 rubles, but finding it in pharmacy kiosks is quite a difficult task.
In Ukraine, a solution of a pharmaceutical drug can be purchased starting from 25 hryvnia, and nebulas for a modern inhaler are described at a price of 30 hryvnia for a cardboard package of 10 pieces.
